33 miles on a new route with two of my cycling buddies. Debris and not being familiar with the route kept us from really picking it up. But that's OK because any bike ride is a great ride.

The remnants of Harvey and Irma have brought us milder than normal weather the last couple weeks. Now we back to the usual heat and humidity. So this morning I sweated out a 105 minute ride around town.

Did the full Rappahanock Rough Ride with about 200 others, but it didn't seem a whole lot of folks opted for the full 60 mile loop. Weather was nice, a bit humid towards the end. The pastoral mountain views are unmatched, and the ride is touted as one of the most scenic in VA. The 'rough' lived up to its reputation, and one rider commented it's a never ending roller coaster that seems to go mostly uphill. I started with the lead group of about half a dozen riders, and slowly got dropped about 15 miles in. Luckily, a second group, running just a tad slower came by, and the nine of us finished together. Garmin showed 3:22, which is just over 17mph. Pleased overall, but already starting to feel the after effects!

Still without house power from IRMA but fortunate to have wife's motorhome to hang out and sleep in. I'm her chauffeur-chief cook & bottle washer-laundry guy.

Got out for the first time since the Tour of Sebring 104 miler 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Rode 39 miles on the LBS ride plus an additional 38 miles with a great group consisting of me, myself and I.

24.2 miles (38.9k). Partly cloud, partially full winter gear, cold this AM (52°). But like John_V sez, any ride is a good ride.

Today I did my first century (Clarksville Sunrise), extending my previous distance best of 67mi...and about nine miles from the start, I clicked over 2000 miles since January. And I think my Brooks seat is officially broken in. It was the best bike day ever.

Clarksville Sunrise Century is a good place to get that first 100mi...well supported, scenic, and pretty flat (my gadget recorded ~2400ft ascent in the first 90 before the battery went flat).

Picked up my first bike today, a Specialized Crossroads, and put a little time on it here locally. I'm not quite ready to get going long distances yet, but will ease into it all the same. I'm just glad to be riding again.

Thanks, it was a great day! I need to gain a little more speed to beat my battery...or spend less time at SAGs LOL.

Do you ever wake up and just can't get motivated? So I thought a little shopping therapy first thing this morning would solve it, but that didn't work.

I finally decided to get out anyway and just do a little slow roll around some neighborhoods. After a trek though a cemetery I finally got my groove back, and I ended up riding 2.0 hours.

Yep, quite a bit. What I find is pretty much like your experience: push myself past that little hump and I'm right back in the groove. The more you do do that, the easier it gets to just say Screw this, I'm getting out there.

I often have trouble motivating myself to get out the door, but I'm always glad I did once I'm out there. Beautiful day for riding here, with sunny skies and temps in the high 80s, as I got in 35 miles. Irma had only limited impact here, so there is some debris still on the shoulders on of many roads, but the lanes are clear. You do want to stay out in the lane as much as you can to avoid the odd branch that's sticking out over the road surface, but that's no problem on the lightly trafficked rural roads in my area.

21.0 miles (33.8k) 1,302 calories burned. I'm at low energy today and it was cold (light winter gear) so a shorter ride, but still most of it @16-18 mph. Had yet another flat (16 this year), used both CO2 bottles to get it filled (operator error), but at least this time it was the front tire (sigh). Goathead stickers are hard a rock and will penetrate anything!

48 miles with my buddy Frankie this morning. The new route isn't all that fast a route with traffic and stops but today it was brutally slow. Not sure what kind of problem Frankie was having but he was just not able to keep up today. And it didn't help that it was very windy today.

Our bike club (OCBC) did a charity ride today to raise money for the Big Brothers and Sisters of NY. I did the 64 mile loop, as many others did as well. It was a good turn out and we raised over $25,000!

22 miles this morning....and a bad fall. Going round a bend, got too close to the kerb, pedal got caught, bike stopped suddenly. I didn't. Right out of bike, straight down on my head(always wear a helmet, kids!). Knee skint and swollen. Head got a serious thump....now have a sore neck.

But other than that, it was a great ride!

A beautiful late afternoon/early FL evening for a nice 30 mile recovery ride, with a pretty sunset as a bonus. The cleanup crews have done a marvelous job of clearing the bike lanes, and the Archer Trail is now passable. Found a new detour on the ride back to Archer. Pretty back country, but the road is a bit beat up. Future shock would have been a welcome addition.

23 miles Sunday evening, after the temp dropped to the low 90s. Got my fastest time so far on a 14 mile segment that I ride often. Didn't feel fast, like my legs weren't cooperating, but I've learned not to trust my legs and lungs -- they always whine.

Was able to get 55 miles in yesterday. Nice overcast day and in the mid 70's for the morning ride. Love riding early Sunday mornings. No traffic. Just plenty of dogs. LOL
