Yokota Bicycles
I have a 1993 Yokota Yosemite Comp, I absolutely adore this bike.
Got it brand new back in '93, ditched the steel fork and flat pedals with Rock Shox Judy XC and Shimano 540s (I think they were 549s back then) in 96 after really getting it off-road with my buddy, a veteran freestyle rider.
I found my Yosemite to be extremely versatile on amd off road, commuted in and out of NYC for decades on this rig, hauled about 100lbs of groceries on it with full panniers and bags tied all over it in a car-less mid 2000s period through rain and even deep snow.
In 2020 I overhauled it again and the bike is still super nimble, the XT group is mostly still there with the addition of an XTR rear deurailer (old one got eaten in my spokes in Staten Island's pretty rad Greenbelt park), V-brake upgrade and swapped out the flat handlebar for a more modern MTB upward curved bar in 2007.
Pics to come.
Would love to see more surviving Yokota bikes!!!
