Pretty sure that would only be a concern if it's really low-quality chrome. I know someone who filed off the tabs on a steel Colossi fork 2+ years ago and the chrome is fine.

I've filed down areas of chrome moped parts a few times and have never seen the surrounding chrome start to peel either.

Maybe best to ask here.

In your opinion, what are the most comfortable risers for big ass monkey hands?

The Return of Jaytron!

Risers are risers, pretty much. Are you looking for something excessively wide to follow current trends or something narrow to revisit fixie days of yore?

Yeah! Haha I lurk sometimes (althought not super often).

I just want something that is pretty comfy. Probably not super narrow because I'd probably eat ****. Just 'normal' width, if there is one. Super wide also feels like I'd randomly eat **** if I clipped something. I don't think I'd want them much wider than my drops, tbh. I think those are a 42, or 44. Also something that can fit a brake lever so I don't die.

It's really just to be more comfy commuting here and there.

When you build up a wheelset using Mavic Open Pro CD rims, what is your target maximum spoke tension?

Try some Ergon grips and you will be mega comfy. Flat palm sections=better blood flow and less death gripping.

Whatever tickles your pickle, dude.

I think that ratio is pretty stupid. There's a kook here in town riding 55/13 gearing and he literally has to walk up every hill he encounters. What's the point?

well there are no hills in my area :/ at all. so it's not much a deal breaker. when i go to different cities i change to a 56:15 with i can climb hills super easy. but i was just wondering if any other people ride this as well.

Actually they do, but you need a special lockring and can't use deep no-drop chains. There was this beastly national team sprinter that used to train at my track with a 12T cog.

NJS approved, baby ! https://www.worldclasscycles.com/sugino_12_tooth_cog.htm

I rarely use my 50 x 11 on my road bike, and if I do, its because I'm sprinting downhill with a tailwind. I can't imagine having something that steep as my only gear

GX1 is a fine choice or GP1 or go for another if you want some bar ends. The GP series is certainly more comfort oriented while GX1 is more race oriented but both would be comfy! I haven't used or seen the downhill/enduro grips in person so I cannot say if they are good comfort wise or not but knowing Ergon they probably are.
