$350 a fair price for an 2009 trek fx 7.3 hyrid?

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are new to biking. We are thinking of getting used bikes so we can get a higher quality bike than the dept. store bikes without spending a lot of money before we see if we enjoy it. We saw an ad on craigslist for used 2009 fx 7.3 with 400 miles on it on for $350. I know used it retails around $600 but I wasn't sure how much the value decreases with time. Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds like me, I just got a 2010 Trek 7.3, barely ridden for $350.00. The owner of the LBS, knew the original owner, confirmed that it probably didn't even have 100 miles on it. He said I got a great deal on the bike!

So knowing that, I think it's a good price as long as its in good shape, and no maintenance will be immediately required when you get it.

Nice price, but I'd vehemently protest! Find something wrong with the bike like scratches, gouges, ugly chain, anything...use your bargaining skills.

I'd offer $300 as my final offer, but I'd take $350, just in case!

PS.

In America, we bargain...That's what capitalism and the free marketplace is all about. Beside, you can't always be too sure about the bicycle's condition. If you must lose anything lose less...

Price is good...can't expect better in described condition.

You're in NJ? That's a 20" frame, good for riders ~5'9"-6'1".

Check it out in person. Some cosmetic blemishes from use and transport are to be expected. If I liked it, I'd hand over the 350. No reason to look cheap by bargaining an already good price. The seller priced it fair and is FIRM. It won't be around long.

$350 for your bike is a very good buy.. assuming legitimate ownership. Good finds don't last long on CL.

I can't see the ad, but if it's a 20" frame it will probably be too big for you. Assuming your an average sized woman. May be fine for your husband, though.

$350 is a decent price for a nice bike to start off on. Assuming the condition is good.

Hmmm, I've found the haggling much better in Mexico and certain Caribbean nations than in the USA.

I hear it's really big in the Middle East but I've never been over there.
