Specialized Riprock 24?

Long story short, my 8 year old needs a new bike at the height of the bike buying frenzy. Not too much available on craigslist or new, but I have found a Specialized Riprock 24. It has the fat tires (2.8) that is supposed to increase comfort and stability, leading to greater confidence. But is there a big trade-off in rolling resistance?

I can't find any weight specs so if anyone knows how much it weighs, I would really appreciate that information.

It's one of the more expensive kid's bikes out there. Overpriced or a case of "you get what you pay for?"
