Is this Trek worth it?

Hello all, I am looking for a little bit of input. This bike is located about 40 miles from me and the guy guys said I could take it off of his hands for $75 dollars. It needs new tires and tubes as well as pretty much overhauling it. The frame doesn't look to be in great condition, but I cannot tell if it is in terrible condition. Let me know what you think. Here are some pictures and sorry if the quality is not all that good, I did not take the pictures, the seller did.

What year is the bike? the 500 series had Reynolds 501 frame tubing I believe. It's a large size frame, cyclone RD-FD, and I really hate to say it, but the fork looks bent (possible frame damage if bent)...could just be the angle in the pics though. If everything's there, and in good shape I think it's worth $75.00. Personally if I saw that listed where I live I'd grab it.

Good call on the fork, definitely looks bent in the photo.

If it wasn't $75 would be a great deal if you have the tools to fix it up. Taking this to a shop and having them do all the work will add up quickly as it almost certainly needs a complete overhaul.

I'd pop on it for 75.00 just for the parts that I'd be using on other bikes.....I am not a flipper, I'm an enthusiast. As for a fixerupper, FastJake has the word on it if you arent going to do the refurb yourself.

Nice stuff on the bike.....I'm a sucker for nice old Trek.

I was going to get this for a project bike to build up over some time. Just to get a better understanding of bikes. Here is the picture from the CL ad. I thought the fork was bent when i first looked at it also.

Really rough shape on that frame. Its really best suited as a donor bike (do you need the parts?)

I don't really need the parts, but I was thinking about buying a frame and building it up...

Then I would keep looking. The frame is suspect, and the paint is poor.

Sometimes those are the most fun! I got this frameset for free. Although I'm certain it's worthless, it sure rides nice.
