Lousy viruses!

My dear wifey gifted me with a nasty little virus last week, which she contracted at work. It’s been eight days and I still feel like hell. She’s at the end of two weeks now and just returning to normal.

end rant

Hope she’s ok. I’m hearing from people I know all over who seem to be getting pretty sick. Something nasty going around.

Just don't cough on your computer.

I don't want it to spread this way.

She's a lot better. Knowing my luck I've caught the flu. Bad chills a few minutes ago. Merde.

It's punishment for trying to get back into shape!

This is probably a good reminder to head off and get the flu vaccine.

Oh, and catch up on the Shingles vaccine, if there is any available stock.

A bit early for influenza but could be.
CDC recommends vaccination by the end of October.

And you still have to get up and open the chicken soup to heat it yourself.

What have you learned from this experience?

Avoiding the flu:

1) cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.

2) frequent hand washing

Don't need no stinkin flu shot. Also, "a day late and a dollar short."

Yep-those computer viruses can be nasty! Wife and I got flu shots yesterday (9/21), she got her 2nd shingles-and is sore around where she got it, but better than what you would feel if contacting shingles. Waiting for my second one, as I've got some things coming up that a sore arm just wouldn't work for. (but I will get the 2nd soon-if they have it).

I just (twenty minutes ago) tried to get the first shingles vaccine dose. Nobody has it. Second one they do have.

Too much demand for not enough supply = shortages. The first and second doses are the same - maybe your pharmacy is giving priority to those who are due for the second dose. Our local CVS has been chronically short of shingrix. I got my first there but found the second dose at the retail pharmacy of the hospital I retired from. Spouse/stoker is getting her first dose there tomorrow.

Yeah, rough year for respiratory stuff. Between a summer virus and allergies it's been a long season of raw throat, sinuses and buckets of snot. My throat has been so raw and constricted from this stuff I can barely swallow a pill.

Got an endoscopy procedure coming up in a couple of weeks to check it out. Last time they just used a topical spray anesthetic and a nasal cannula to take a peek. This time they want to do full anesthesia and Roto-Rooter my esophagus. Not looking forward to that, mostly because it means asking a friend to accompany me. I hate having to ask folks to babysit. I might ask them to reschedule for the hospital and keep me overnight if they can't do it with a topical anesthetic at the outpatient clinic and let me go home myself.

Got my flu shot last week. Luckily the VA usually has 'em ready to go on demand, so I got it after my annual checkup. Asked to be scheduled for a shingles shot as well.
