Trek FX 1 mystery components
Hi I have an FX1 and am wondering who makes the un named cranks and mystery bottom bracket. Thanks.

You could email Trek, they might get back to you about it. They're generic, chinese, and work reasonably well. The BB will die sooner than a comparable Shimano BB, but then again those are cheap and easy to replace. Try not to wear your chain so much that you wear out your chainrings, but then again cheap 3x cranksets aren't that pricy, either.

Each year the specs for any one bike can and do change. Of course the parts that have had a serious marketing program (think Shimano, FSA, SRAM, Campy and more that you see advertised with company money) behind them tend to last over more production batches then those that the consumer is less aware of. So an entry level model might have had various sources for any one "no name" component over any year or three.
Remember that there's that clause at the bottom of the spec list "subject to change dur to..." and the reason is often cost VS performance VS sellability. Andy

Just measure/document dimensionally the actual in use parts and duplicate as best possible. Andy

A FX1 is really pretty reasonable for what it is. I might put better tires on it when the originals wore out. I wouldn't bother upgrading the crank/BB. If the BB dies it's replaceable with any square taper BB with the same width. If you need to replace the crank just get whatever has similar sized chainrings. The economy of significantly upgrading the drivetrain is pretty poor unless a bunch of stuff is already worn out or you have some leftover parts from something else.
