Tomorrow is the day!
I will take a look for the Lemondrian shirt. I don't post pictures of myself online, but you might find a few of me on my Strava profile: https://www.strava.com/athletes/538654
I'll wear the same jersey as that pic with Phil Gaimon, but I will be bearded now. Only own that own bike.

i guess the lobster devoured everyone on the ride/three hour tour since no one's reported back. deploy the search and rescue team.
i don't feel that bad about coming up short with the left claw a month or so ago.

You saw my "ride" on Strava. Mechanical failure at the GMR/GRR junction caused me to bail and return.
It was all quite stupid. Since the roads were closed, they had those huge barricades to block access to cars. Apparently on hurdling the third one, I must have hit something and my chain fell off, between the chainring and frame, without me noticing. I then attempted to commence my ride up the hill and applied a lot of force as I was clipping in. Completely tweaked the chain. Had to coast all the way down, walking up the kickers. At Glendora had to call an Uber since there are no buses on weekends. I was sooooo excited for this ride.

would you attempt it again as the organized ride it is or try to do it unsupported?

Technically it was unsupported, but there were actually SAG vehicles. I do long rides by myself, but I need company for this one. Was considering a trip to Baldy since I already did Crystal Lake a month ago.
Did not realize until this morning that this weekend is Memorial Day weekend. A friend from the Bay Area was talking about coming down to do Dawson Saddle. Advance weather forecast is bad. The weather was sooo good on Saturday.

baldy...ugh. saturday forecast looks decent but windy. traffic could be a bear unless you get an early start-say 7am-and start near the intersection of east fork and hwy 39. you'd hafta buy one
of those $5 usfs day passes at a local store in azusa to hang from your rear view mirror but at least you could skip the boring climb from azusa to east fork. you'd also miss out on some
traffic. would be at the crystal lake turnoff/closed section of hwy 39 by 9am...dawson saddle by 10:30am. if there is other traffic, it would be on the other side of the road once you start the fun
descent from dawson saddle.
