Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well I haven't posted my bike in this thread for awhile, and it went through some changes recently. There seems to be some discussion about proper staging of a bike photo. I need to set an example on how to post a bike pic on BF. Notice the wheel, and crank position, as well as the gear selection. Also notice no saddle bag, or frame pump, why anyone would own such a thing is beyond me. Also stem should be angled down, and no spacers should be under the stem.

Maybe with all those rules you should have removed the computer and the bottle cages. Since you are setting the standard on a proper bike shot. And I don't think I need to explain a saddle bag's use.

I didn't make the rules, I am just repeating them for those who may be ignorant of their existence. So what is a saddle bag used for? What do you need to have on a bike ride that you cannot fit in the standard jersey pockets?

the computer and bottle cages are fully acceptable. they are part of the bike.

you can get everything you need in your jersey pockets without even knowing it is there. i am ok with saddle bags for tubular use but beyond that they are not necessary for most rides under a century.

edit: SA beat me but i will leave it up in support

They are tubulars you idiot. Blame Zipp, or Vittoria who manufacture the tires for them.

Thanks. It's a Red 11-23. Not sure why it looks so black, but it isn't. Must be the lighting.

Wait wait wait, I thought spacers under the stem was ok in the past. I thought spacers on top was a no no. ie. periscopes aren't needed on a bike.
So this is ok? (although the picture is blurred, sorry, aren't the bolts holding the bars on back-to-front?)

Picked up a Nice GT for $300 Complete, fine tuned it up two days ago and took it for it's first ride today. Feels and handles really nice.

Thank you, it's was a steal at that price...the guy needed to save up fast and move out of the country ASAP. I thought it was stolen but then he showed me a receipt of payment from Preformance Bike. Picked it up during my lunch break after apparently only after an hour after his posting on craigslist.

Granted, the saddle, wheels and pedals were orignaly mine. Other than that the Tiagra Group and Stock Alex Wheels still made for a great deal for the price I paid.

Buy new tires with the logos placed properly. If you insist on those tires, buy multiple sets until one meets BF standards. You could've avoided this problem with a little diligence on your part. I blame you entirely.

For restitution you should send me that beautiful bike, since I'll treat it right.

I'm guessing that's an old Trek but it looks REALLY NICE. Except for the wheels cause they look REALLY FAT. Lol. I know they're great though.
