Actually saw a hit and run this morning

I don’t know exactly what happened because there was a car in front of me that braked suddenly but there was a lady in a black suv halfway out of her car and half way in the middle of the road after she had pulled out from the stop sign on a cross street. As she backed up a man still standing and holding his bike came with her. His front tire was somehow attached to her bumper. He must not have been hurt but he was, understandably mad. I was on a one way road and still can’t quite figure out how she hit him. He freed his bike and threw it on the ground and started towards the driver which is when I called 911, she got back in her car and took off and he sat down next to his bike. There was another car stoped so I relayed the details to 911 and went on my way.
I wonder what will happen to the driver if they find her. She was in the wrong and she shouldn’t have left, but I believe she probably was scared of a large man charging at her. Hopefully she stopped down the block.

I ride this road all the time, so it had me a little shook up, the cross street is tricky and I usually turn a block early to avoid it. I always watch the drivers on the cross streets, because there are so many accidents on these two one way roads but I’ll be even more vigilant in the future.

I always wonder if it happens, should I chase the driver to get a tag # or stop to help a possible injury. Hope I never have to make that choice, glad you didn't. I suppose if there is a possible injury and I'm the only one around, that would be priority #1 .

But yes, approaching a driver in anger after an accident, especially since they stopped, isn't likely to produce good results. In fact, if they never find the driver now, angry cyclist is out of any option for damages. He'd done better to stayed on the ground.

very astute observation, as this was the very first point the OP made in his post.

This is what I would categorize as a no value, antagonistic post. It's the kind of crap that detracts from discussion. We can all read. That's why we are here.

Chase the driver. Stopping for the injured isn't going to help them much - either they'll die immediately or not at all. A few weeks ago I saw a hit and run, but it was car on car. Couldn't believe it. But I got the plate number and gave it to the lady and cop afterwards. Wish I knew if they caught the d*ckhead. And there were 3 three of us standing on the sidewalk right next to where it happened.

Note to self (if you're a d*ckhead): Don't run when witnesses abound.

If they even thought about it at all, they are probably playing the odds that everyone was so startled that they didn't get the number (or all off it).
