Gonna go road/gravel tubeless...

...and I need advice. I've had a good look-around, and I now ask: help.

I'm down with doing the build, or a factory wheelset--matters little for my purposes. I want strong and relatively cheap.
  • 700c
  • 32 or 36 with regular spokes (perhaps eyelets?);
  • v-brake (with disc-ready hubs as a future consideration as my current cheap bikesdirect v-brake alu frame will eventually break);
  • 32-35/6 rubber;
  • a rear that I can lay-on my 100kg self with good confidence.
There's lotsa info out there, however I want proper BF advice regarding the what-on and where-to spend the dollars. CliffordK suggested to someone Velocity A23 front and A23oc rear. That was the most specific recommendation I found.

TIA

What's your definition of cheap? A wheel built on a Kinlin XR31 hoop won't need near that many spokes for your weight-- you could easily ride 24/24. I've got 24/24 on my CX bike and 20/24 on my road bike.

For tires, look into Hutchinson Overides. Not the cheapest, but they ride exceptionally well, and will handle just about anything you can throw at 'em.

Sorry to do it, but I can't help it:

Reliable, Fast, Cheap.

Pick two.

But seriously, I weighed 99kg up until 2009 & put tons of hard miles on nothing but 32 spoke fr/rr wheels, so don't feel compelled to go to 36 for safety's sake. Chest pains & feeling of impending doom on 20 June 2009 inspired me to lose 22 kg & with that came the freedom to use any spoke count one could desire.
