88 Cannondale SR500 size '63' in Blueberry w/graphics

This 1988 Cannondale SR 500 was completely disassembled to the bare frame, and then refurbished as it was reassembled. Complete bearing service done with Phil's, original white Vetta saddle in great condition, new bar tape, new 700 X 25 tires, new cables, new housing and new chain.

Frame is a light-medium blue (Cannondale called it 'Blueberry') with optional custom sponge-style graphics in yellow and white. Frame size is what Cannondale called a '63', which is about 61cm CTC (center to center) on the seat tube and 58cm CTC on the top tube.

I probably restore more mid-late 80's Cannondale bikes than anyone in the USA, and the SR500 is my personal favorite, due to the solid, simple construction and bombproof Shimano 105 (1050 series) 6 speed double group.

Price is $360 plus shipping. I pack properly and use Bike Flights; actual shipping cost varies according to destination.

Thanks. Should probably add that I can include one of several different type pedal options at no charge, just ask!

I agree, Tom. I kinda got stuck with this one last summer. While in Canada on a weeklong tour, got contacted by a local who wanted me to build a tall bike for him. While on the road, I located and purchased a fine example from a guy in CT who was selling it for his father. Ten days later and partway through the restoration, the guy backed out - no deposit made, nothin'. Clearly this is too tall for me by 4-6cm, and I already have a fine example of this particular breed.

Took me a while to calm down and finish it; now I just want it gone so I don't get angry every time I see it. Hence the fire sale price.

I think the Blueberry is a great colour. It works with the big tube C-dales in a nice way, if that makes any sense. Pre-unicrown to boot. Bargoon.

Oh, yeah. Steel Tange fork goodness. These bikes have a lovely ride quality with 25's. I think a lot of the 'harshness reputation' was caused by the 20 and 23mm tires pumped up to really high pressures we used back then.

In response to several inquiries:
1) The Vetta saddle is shaped very much like a Turbo.
2) Although not shown with pedals, I have several pedal options that come with the bike at no additional charge.

Nope, no gots.
Recently completed a black one with new paint, Shimano 1051 7 speed converted ro a riser bar city bike with a bambino seat for my daughter and grandson.
Other than that, my building-Cannondales-for-others days are pretty much done.

Just want to lay some praise - I picked one of these SR500s up on a sweet deal almost a year ago today (thread here). Was intent on a quick overhaul and flip but beforehand I rode it. I was shocked at how comfortable and smooth it was, so I rode it again, and again, then I rode it some more until one of the tubulars totally blew out. I missed riding it after a couple of months, so I swapped out for clinchers so I could take it out some more. As much as I was told I wouldn't like this bike and it wouldn't make a good commuter, it actually really, really grew on me and I absolutely love riding it now and yes, I do commute with it periodically.

This is a damn good deal for a mint quality bike and I haven't seen one looking so nice (wish mine did! needs a lot of elbow grease to get it this shiny!)

Probably blasphemy for me to sing praises of this specific bike, but I gotta say, it's a winner in my personal experience, one I would've never expected. I can't imagine any buyer would be disappointed.
