Rapha Crit Series - Number Placement
I was looking at Rapha's "Crit Collection" and found their approach to bib # placement interesting.
https://www.rapha.cc/us/en_US/shop/c...roduct/PCR01XX
There is no pinning but as the placement is low and only on the back (Pro Peloton) I doubt it would fly at the local crit/officials review.
Thoughts?

Iridescent film/mesh aside, I think the placement (back and low) is even more of deterrent for this to fly in a local crit.
I like the concept but not sure it works in practice.

Don't know why they wouldn't just use a clear plastic cover like the nopinz guys do.
I can't imagine there are any officials that would be okay with that setup.

There's no way that would fly in NCNCA.

Saw this on bikerumor today.. First point, I've never done a race where they want numbers like that. (I know that's how pro races do it.. but lets be honest pro racers have no say over their kit) Two, you can't see **** through those mesh "windows." Not gonna fly for any race that has a camera.
I love the designs and the concept, but it's like they've never talked to a race official or promoter...

Pretty sure this is intended to be worn in a knife fight, so normal rules probably don't apply.

Hell, I"m only a 3 and I don't have say over my kit, if I want race reimbursement and a free one for next year

Dave Towle threw out "knife fight" last night in announcing the Tulsa Tough race...I think the 3s race? It didn't make any sense in the context he used it in, based off what the real meaning seems to be, which also makes pretty much zero sense either.

If it were mounted more to the side, this might actually be better than the No Pinz clear plastic. A major reason why the officials hate it when we crumple the numbers is that it creates a bunch of reflective surfaces that produce glare for the cameras. If the mesh reduces glare, it might actually make the numbers easier to read.
