The first one I MIGHT, possibly, consider placing a pre-emptive patch on the inside, then keep riding. The 2nd one wouldn't worry me at all.

If it bulges at all or you can see the fabric is damaged, replace it. Otherwise you’re fine. Rubber mainly protects the carcass and the carcass provides most of the strength.

Those are fine. It is smart to look for such things after a ride.

Neither of those would blip my radar.

My general test is to inflater the tire to your normal operating pressure and feel the cut with your finger. If you can feel a bump or a blister, you can assume that the tire casing has been compromised. If that's the case, I replace the tire.

I'd double check there isn't something still down in there that will eventually puncture the tube, then ride the heck out of it till the treads worn down to the threads or I simply get tired of the tires and want new.

If the tube is not bulging a big bump in that area, it's a non-issue for me and I'd just watch it till I was satisfied it is not continuing to grow. Cuts in the rubber only are not a big deal.

You yourself have to consider your ride environment. Are you racing for big bucks and have to minimize any risk? Or can you survive a flat on the road and perhaps a fall if it blows on a turn?

Falls have not bothered me yet in over 50 years, I've lived through many.

I fill small cuts, such as the one pictured, with super glue.

Just curious about the Super Glue tip. I've tried that, yet it dries very hard. Has anyone tried rubber cement? Does that work well on small cuts?

I've used Shoe Goo - it's pretty flexible. I don't expect that it does anything except keep grit from getting in there.

1st cut

1st cut

2nd cut

Found a scratch in side wall too.

They might have one more ride in them. I have some patched tires re-stretching now. I just need to get around to remove and glue. If these would just flat and be done but they wont.

I've always wondered about the super glue advice.. like you say, my experience is that super glue dries hard/crystalline. Isn't putting super glue into a cut like putting in a custom shaped piece of glass that's already worked part-way thru a cut on your tire?
