Help me figure out what year this fx 7.5 is

I have been looking for an fx for awhile now. I came across this bike on FB marketplace that listed the 7.5 fx as a 2015 model. It is silver in color and has a largish trek logo. According to the trek website, the 2015 model only came in white. Through looking at different years, the bike appears, to me, to be a 2006 model. The seller is adamant that it is a 2015 model. I can't post pictures as I don't have enough posts, but I will try to link the FB marketplace post. He wants 340, and I had talked him down to $300 when I believed it was a 2015 model. If it truly is a 2006, is it even worth that much? Thanks!

According to Trek's Archives website, there are major differences in the two model years (2015 and 2006), which should make identification pretty quick and easy:

2015: 2x10 Tiagra, carbon fork blades, standard spoke wheels
2006: 3x9 Deore, alloy fork blades, paired-spoke wheels

Of course, there are many years in between as well. Do you know the components of the subject bike? That will help a lot.

I wish I could post a picture or the url of of it, but I don't have the 10 requires posts. It definitely has the paired spokes, but can't tell what kind of components it has as there are not any close up shots

regardless of brand, model or year. a bike is worth, what someone will pay. in some markets, like near me, any Trek FX model is worth approx $300. if the size is correct for the rider & the bike is ride ready w true wheels & clean, etc. I prefer to buy bikes from ppl who thought they would get into biking but never really did, so the bike is still basically brand new, just several years old. that's "worth" more to me, than a newer model, that's been beaten up

good luck with your quest, go give it a test ride & see if it "speaks to you"

Very true...that's what I paid for my 2006 7.5 fx, and I wish I could have paid 100 less.

OP: If it's really that old, go over it with a fine tooth comb: brake track & pad wear, tire wear, chain & cassette wear. I didn't know how to identify those deficiencies when I got mine. Good luck!
