Someone left the Trek out in the rain...
Picked up a Trek 330 Elance. 1987 model. It was sitting out in the weather for quite a while, so it needs lots of attention. Cables, chain, wraps, tires, pedals, saddle, etc. There was even a nest of ants living under one of the brake hoods. But the frame is sold and unrusted and everything is functional.
Any guess on what this is worth when all is spiffy again?

Frame is Reynolds 531. Drivetrain should be SunTour Alpha 5000, can't tell from the pix.
Around here, the market for steel bikes is soft. If it were in really nice condition with all new consumables, $250 tops. This one is a little rougher, so probably more like $175-200 completely redone. Adjust those prices up or down depending on your market.

$200 in the good old days, $150 or less now. Only the main tubes are 531.

"I don't think I can take it, because it took so long to paint it. And I can never have that original paint job again. again" to paraphrase Richard Harris and a well known long pop hit from 1970. Some Bike Forums wit for you. Best wishes on the build, and enjoy the ride.

Thanks folks. Seems like $175-$185 would be reasonable, as long as it turns out well. Trek is a popular name, and as I said, the frame is nice.

Just a follow-up. After some work and new parts, the bike sold for $185 the day it was listed. I'm sure I could have gotten more by waiting, but what the hell. Went to a nice young couple. I hope they will be happy with it.
