Hello from Southwestern Ontario!
Hi BikeForums,
I am a new rider, I have just started getting into cycling after purchasing a fixed gear road bike for use on my 3.5km commute to work (once the weather turns nice). I have been lurking these forums for a couple months now and figured its time that i register and try to actively participate as much as possible. Please bare with me, I am sure i will make some stupid posts, but thats just paying your dues while learning the ropes of a sport lol right?
Currently my bike a black Pure Fix, front brake, with bullhorn bars and toe clips. I aim to keep it like this as long as possible to save up money until i can get a proper road bike. I figure this will really help build proper cadence and strength during this summers rides. My goal is to 'easily' complete a 70km route that i have already planned out taking me from my house down the river to a nature reserve on the lake. As it goes so far i have been riding at my gym and have no issues riding 20km in about 30 minutes, so i feel like this goal is attainable before mid summer.
I haven't purchased all my cycling attire and gear yet, but I am getting pretty stoked with the pro races starting! If you have any tips for a beginner in the sport let me know, so far i have been consuming everything i can find on it, and yes, i have read 'the rules'.
Cheers!
