Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Nolobi 4130

Hi,

Love to hear your thoughts - i was looking at these guys Nolobi 4130 ? Nolobi Bikes

They have a 4130 chromo frame model that I like the look of in chrome, I've had what I guess would be an entry to city cycling bike for the last few years -which was as good and as bad as you'd expect,

But now i'd like something a bit smoother. And ideally a bit smarter..but still not too expensive.

Seems awfully expensive for essentially a no name bike with no name parts just for the chrome frame.

low quality chrome. Cheap components. Overpriced.

OP - One of the best shops in the biz is right in your city. Go buy a real bike from Louis at Brick Lane Bikes and tell him Scrod says hi.

+1 BLB looks like they make some nice stuff and I have long considered getting one myself.

If you ever get some big coin, Mercian does some really nice stuff and has a semi-custom build program on their site I have been playing with. lugged Reynolds 853 OS fixed gear with clearance for a 32 tire and canti's with serious paint for £1068 ain't shabby especially from a long time well known well respected company. You can turn most of their frames into a fixed gear or semi-horizontal dropout which is really neat. Granted a full custom builder could do a lot of the same stuff but probably would cost a lot more British Dollary-doos!

In England a KiloTT would probably be a PoundTT or something like that.

From the perspective of someone who just bought a steel frame single speed, new with factory vertical dropouts , for over four hundred dollars, that thing looks pretty awesome.

Go for it!
