If you have full lights on the dash that aren't dimming at all and your car just clicks when you try to start it, you have a seized starter which you can hit with a hammer and sometimes it will unseize itself and will be good for a whileish.

When somebody zooms past me to wait at a red light, I like to roll up in front of the car super casually and put my arms on the bar and just casually look around as if I'm not trying to be anywhere fast and then drag ass getting started again and if I can take the lane.

Mechanic confirmed it was a faulty ignition switch/cylinder thong. Apparently not uncommon among Hondas.

I regret buying an ACS freewheel. What a POS.

Lots of recalls out for Honda ignition switches. I had one replaced under recall on a 99 I purchased last year, no charge. Took care of two other electrical system recalls at the same time.
Heavy keychains hanging from the ignition can ruin the switch.

Been there, done that. Just get a White Industries. You won't be disappointed, but your wallet might...

I don't know. POS is relative. I can buy two ACS's for the price of one White and have enough money left over for a nice meal.

When the first ACS goes I just throw on the spare, 15 minutes maybe, and ride on. Meanwhile the White sits on the bench waiting for UPS to drop off a $20 set of springs and prawls, or maybe even a $45 outer gear.

To each his own, I guess. I don't get it though. TCO doesn't seem worth it for what it does.

I got a good deal on a lightly used one, but I get your point. A few thousand miles (with at least a few hundred of those on unpaved roads) and zero issues later, I'm a fan. Totally worth the investment, IMO.

Me too. I have a WI on my road wheels and it's been awesome. I thought I'd try an ACS on my knobby-tire wheels as I wasn't sure if wanted to stick with a 19T or not.

It's a Crossfire. It 'works'. I rode in some wet and dirty conditions the other week and wanted to remove it so I could attempt to flush and re-lube it, but the removal tool won't fit over the locknut on my axle. With the freewheel still on, it's near impossible to get a wrench on the adjustment cone while simultaneously backing the locknut off. It's just poorly thought-out. That, and the horrible finish on the teeth I can't really recommend them even as cheap as they are.

Gotcha. Figuring out what gearing you want is about the only thing they are good for.

I've got ~2,500 miles on my WI and it's as perfect as the day I put it on. They definitely live up to the hype.

Same here. I'm somewhere around the 3k mark on my WI, but I'm not exactly sure since I don't track most of my rides.

I'm confused too. I got your point that WI freewheels are relatively expensive and not for everyone (maybe that wasn't your point, sorry, I'm not very bright). I was then commenting to 50volt that in my opinion the cheap freewheels are great for figuring out what gearing you want and not much else. Maybe I'm missing something. I usually do. That's why I typically just lurk and don't say much. Better for someone to think you're a fool...

Today I gave my buddy at the shop a cycling cap that I had bought that just did not fit my head well at all. Of course, it fits him perfectly and is like it was made for him. Cleaned what appeared to be the filthiest drivetrain I have ever seen in my life. Pulled black boogers of greasy gunk from the cog. Chain was an absolute mess. Looks so much better now.

Pro tip: If you use Tri-Flow chain lube, be sure to wipe off the excess. Used it 4 times now and forgot each time. No bueno.

Pretty much do that with most any lube. Though use a wax lube and things stay cleaner and decently quiet. Right now I am using Finish Line Ceramic Wax lube and love it but have used White Lightning Wax lube in the past and it did quite well. I was never a fan of light lube and use wet lube mostly on the touring bike.

I have been using chain L and its pretty good. Gets dirty easily but the lube that has penetrated stays put and works great. Just gotta wipe the chain clean once a week.

I think that I am going to switch to be honest. I think my buddy at the LBS uses a candle on his chain, parafin wax or something. I probably won't go that far.

Also, 4k miles on my white industries freewheel and it still performs and sounds new.
