Winter Solstice rides or pics? Share
We celebrate the coming Summer willing to cede the Moon her temporary dark reign.
But I will take a late December sunny day. Even one very low in the sky.
Only a short ride, much to do before Christmas after weeks away from home.
Sun hung around thru afternoon, so another pump & quick spin.
Enjoy the Winter.

Forgot it was the solstice, so no pics. Started on an easy ride, then wondered, "Have they finished all the work that shut down the nice shortcut east of town?" Answer: Yes! So I added a couple ridges to the ride. Overcast and cool, a perfect day to climb 1875' in 31 miles. And I made it up the big climb (400' in just over a mile) that had me walking last time I tried it!

Some Oregon randonneur friends are riding a winter solstice 200km ride tomorrow, starting at noon. I think the original plan was to depart tonight and ride the long night. I might have done that. Saner heads prevailed, but I can't make tomorrow. Should be a mini adventure.

Terribly out of focus pic from Seattle overlooking the I-90 floating bridges to Mercer Island with the Cascade mountains in the distance. Taken on the 23rd.
