Riding Resolutions 2020

Start riding more inclines. I want to get up into some of the local So Cal mountains and give them a try. I've spent way too much time riding on flat roads.

Do a couple of short overnight tours. Just some out and back credit card touring down the So Cal coast (PCH).

Do more short but intense rides 20-25 miles 2x per week to add to longer weekend rides.

Complete my first 100 mile + 10K/ft of climbing ride this spring.

Start riding on local fire roads and gasp try some single track for the first time in years.

Stay out of the ER.

- 3000mi
- Ride in 4 gravel races
- 4 weekend overnights with my kids

Pretty sure this was for the most part my 2019 list.
Got close on all accounts.

Say yes to all invitations to ride whenever time permits. 'I don't feel like it' can't an excuse to say no.

would like to do my first 50 mile ride soon,

otherwise I would like to get faster, and maybe participate in my first race. I’m still extremely new, so just riding as much as possible.

this past year I complete 500 miles for the trek century challenge. So in 2020 I would like to complete 1,000 miles

Start to explore some more remote gravel roads, goat trails and other unmaintained unassumed roads.

More hills and try to make it to Cycle Oregon, if at all possible. Oh, and set a PR up Mt. Scott.

This^^^
Plan to get back to my usual minimum 6-7000kms/year, plus some mtb. Last year and a half has been a bit of a cycling write-off due to health issues. At 68, getting some fitness back will be a challenge, but imagonnadoit come h_ll or high water.

I'd like to get my 30 mile average over 23mph, currently at 21, and to get in a trio of 75+ mile gravity rides.

Ride to Denver. The northernmost part of Colorado Springs is 54 Miles from the southernmost part of Denver, so technically I've ridden that distance as my longest ride was 56 miles for my 56th birthday. The day before my 57th birthday my father passed away and I never got around to it. My goal is to ride my father's age this year (85 miles). That's about door to door from my home to my daughter's in Denver. I have a safe route picked out that I have recconoitered.

Anyway's that is my goal for 2020.

Just keep riding. I had to quit in 2010 because my knees were shot at age 57. I started riding again in July of 2018, with two new knees. 5400 miles logged since then, 3800 of them in 2019. Maybe ride 4000 in 2020. I used to do 5000 per year, but I don't ride quite as far per ride, due to steep slopes.

Get in occasional distance rides through the winter so I'm not starting over and having to train my rear back up from nothing in March/April.

Signed up for the Strava 5000 mile challenge for 2020. Gives me a goal to shoot for. did 6000 in 2018 and only 3100 in 2019. Ready to step up the pace a bit.

My overriding goal for 2020 is to finish the Coast to Coast Gravel Grinder, and to hopefully do it by sunset.

I've already registered for the race and lined up lodging, so the rest should be easy.

Mainly just to get out and ride more often. Should be easier now that my wife is also retired, and there are (fairly) new singletrack trails off of the local nearby mup. Even tho I'm past retirement age, singletrack is still my favorite riding. And to better enjoy the rides I do manage to fit in.

The goal for 2020 is to make sure all rides have miles that start with an 'S'.
and more rides in the sun, regardless of the time of year.

but planning on more sun may be an optimistic forecast

Best my 2018 mileage. The year that's now ending was a bad riding year for me at 2000 miles, so I'll shoot to improve upon 2018 mileage of 3000 miles.
