One more from the back room.
American Camera Mfg. was bought by Rochester Photographic Co. which was bought by Eastman.
While it's labeled as a American Camera, I believe it is actually a Rochester "Cycle Poco 4x5" plate camera.
Just right for taking on your cycling adventure!

This reminds me, I sold a complete Pentax Auto 110 boxed kit that included lenses, speedwinder, etc. on ebay. I specified U.S.A. sales only. Well, a gentleman in France bought it. He apologized profusely, but said he just had to have it. I said okay, but will have cash in hand before it left my possession. He did, and I sent him the camera. Positive FB on both ends.

Here's another one, just for fun. It is missing the original stopper, which was a flash reflector, but it was cheap and fit in with my collection of old cameras. I don't know what kind of liquor was in it, there are no labels.

My old Nikon stuff. I use to have many lenses but not any more. In fact, I would probably sell this stuff, but it doesn't seem to be worth much of anything.
F3, FA and FM2 with their motors. 35 mm f 1.4, my last good lens. I just found about 20 rolls of old B&W film in a drawer. Maybe I should shoot it up.

I missed out on some F3 bodies on the local CL, a great deal at $75 each. Let me know if you decide to sell yours.

I had a few of each of these over the years, long before the days of pocket sized 110's and throw away cameras.
I always went with cheap cameras, when I rode years ago, before the days of throw away cameras and cell phone cameras, I carried one of these. I had a few of these, some survived, some didn't. They didn't like rain, so I'd carry it in a vinyl bag or keep them wrapped up tight until I needed it.
One of these replaced the Brownie. Someone gave me a half dozen or so of these at some point and I started carrying these as my 'Don't care about it camera'. This one was never used, I found it last year in an old suitcase in the attic still in the original box, sealed in an old plastic bag.

This is wet plate on glass, I talked to Aaryn and found out some info on the photographer, but no info on his old camera. The guys name is Matthew DeFeo out of Denver and this project is titled Stillwater
“Stillwater,” explores my connection to the hardcore rock community through wet plate collodion portraits. The wet plate process became a very necessary way to photograph this subculture. The technical aspects force me to be very intentional with my image making. This also brings about a vulnerability and stillness from the subject, that is not often associated with the genre of music.
This particular subject is pretty hot right now in the Alt music scene, British artist Yungblud
Looking up DeFeo's work, I see he does Tin Type also....just wish he'd give more info on that camera.

A friend's ex and daughter live in Argentina. The daughter is into film photography. She has a decent 35mm camera, but prefers to use cheap plastic lens cameras and pin-hole boxes most of the time. She does make pretty good images with them.

Looky what came up today on the local CL Half-frame 35mm Olympus circa 1970, complete with its own adorable little set of interchangeable lenses, even a zoom. The 40mm is a fast 1.7.

Wow - I'd totally forgotten... My first (and only) new camera was an Olympus OM-1 that I acquired my junior year in HS along with an Omega enlarger and assorted darkroom gear using funds I accrued on various jobs. I absolutely Ioved it, a wonderful little machine with one flaw - well, actually my flaw... My hands were just too large for it. I finally sold it and used the proceeds to buy a (used) Nikon, the first of several to follow. I still have that first one, a black Nikkormat FT-2.

I do have the highest respect for those russian engineers. Without the money and material available to others, they put a man in space and almost on the moon, and they built supersonic fighters which were/are very competitive even without a battallion of engineers maintaining them every 10th flight hour using a literal shipload of spares They even put a space station up and called it "peace" instread of "USSR first"...
It is easy to mock from a position of abundant availability of everything. I somtimes wonder what the praised western engineers would have achieved if they had to work with the resources available to their russian colleagues, and under their circumstances.

But it's true. Digital really killed off the film camera. Except for a small minority who still appreciate such things.
Much like the old and out of date bikes some of us still love. But the best bikes from 40 to 50 years ago have increased in value, mostly.
But not film cameras. Unless you're talking about Leica and so forth.
