You appear to be confusing 2 different things. The Mr Pink competition is an all male beauty contest:

The Mr Pink 10th anniversary is a bike:

When I searched it, I found the beauty pageant and I found the Bike Shop putting out an urban 10 th anniversary bike. But some guy started a thread about building a bike for the Mr. Pink Competition or a Competitor to Mr. Pink. I thought it was a race like Eroica. This guy at All City Cycles just puts out an Urban Pounder every year and calls it the Mr. Pink? Where did the name come from? Thanks, mjac

Okay, I reread the post. It was titled Mr. Pink Competition. What he was doing was building a bike as a competitor to the All City Cycles Mr. Pink 10th Anniversary Bike. But I still want to know why All City calls the bike Mr. Pink...mjac

You still have the thread wrong, even after reading it a second time.
The poster asked for options that compete with(are similar to) AC's Mr Pink.

He's easy to find because Mr. Pink always sticks out from a crowd. Generous fellow, too- always sticking his neck out for others. He's the best, even among stiff competition.

No I do not. The title of the thread was "Mr. Pink Competition." At the top of the post the original poster said," I want a competitor to the All City Mr Pink." Then requested a frame set that he could do that with.

I said he wanted to build a competitor to the All City Cycles Mr. Pink. That is exactly what he was doing. There is no ambiguity. If he requests a frame set in order to build a competitor to the All City Cycles Mr. Pink that does not change the fact he was trying to build a competitor to All City Cycles Mr. Pink. Just as he stated in his own words and just as I stated.

Or, the poster wanted to know about other options before buying a Mr Pink since this was in the first post...
Just want to make sure I'm not missing something else out there before I take the leap for it..

Words are fun.
You are using your own words to twist things to mean what you want. I am using the OP's actual words and meaning and that is what I commented on. The Op said, and I quote, " I want a Competitor for the All City Mr Pink." That is what he said. I said he wanted to build a competitor for the All City Mr. Pink. See the Smilarity? Even you can see that. The Op was not looking to buy a Mr. Pink, he was looking for a Frameset to swap his Components to in order to build " A Competitor" ( There is that word again) to the Mr. Pink. The quote about options before taking the Leap was about was about taking the Leap to buy a Frameset, not a Mr. Pink. The Op's words, not yours.

Words mean things. Especially when you understand them.

Good lord. The quote i provided was from the OP.
Here is another quote from that poster in that thread.

Looking at the 10th anniversary frameset to move all my parts over to. The carbon fork saves quite a bit of weight off the steel one, and I'd still want to throw this thing in a few road races. Only thing giving me pause was the fact I couldn't find another frame to compare it to...
literally says the 10th anniversary frame is what the op is looking to buy.

I'm out, this is absurd.

The OP provides a very ambiguous question. The Mr Pink Competition is a male beauty pagent, simple as that. If the OP had asked which bikes compete with the Mr Pink 10th anniversary bike, my answer would have been totally different. How you phrase a question is very important, English is a very complicated language to learn contrary to what many people believe

Okay, when the OP stated " he wanted a competitor to the Mr. Pink" I took that to mean he wanted to build something to compete with the Mr. Pink. What he was actually saying was he wanted something to compare to the Mr. Pink frame set before he "made the leap" to purchase the Mr. Pink frame set . I did not realize he was referring to the frame set as a Mr. Pink. I thought he was referring to the complete bike as Mr. Pink. I was wrong and mstateglfr was correct. I was not deeply involved in the thread as mstateglfr was and only read the first post trying to figure out what the Mr. Pink Competition was which was the title of the thread...mjac

There was a title to a thread, " Mr. Pink Competition." That is the basis of the question. What is the Mr. Pink Competition? The originator of the thread was referring to something entirely different. Not an event but a comparison to the Mr. Pink Frame Set on the Mr. Pink 10th anniversary bike.

I still ill want to know why All City Cycles calls the urban bike they build every year for the last 10 years Mr. Pink. Where does the name come from. It seems unusual .
