Any of you bought a used bike from Trek Travel?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any of you bought a used bike from Trek Travel?

I searched, could only find threads about their tours.

shop.trektravel.com

They seem to have some good deals but I’m concerned about the long-term experience with the bike. They only offer a 30-day warranty for well-used bikes from their travel program.

Has anyone else purchased a used bike from them?

I haven't, and I haven't heard of anyone doing it. After a quick look at their site, I don't know what sort of discount I'd be after, but half off a 6870 Di2 Emonda isn't it, not for a bike that's been heavily used by a lot of different people for who knows how long. Further, their 52-point inspection they talk so much about is mostly quick visual checks of the sort used car dealers like to use to sound impressive. To be comfortable with a bike that heavily used at only half off, I'd want it to be pulled apart and serviced (new cables, new grease if not new bearings, wheels fully retensioned and not just checked for true, etc).

The lack of discussion about it probably means most others agree. I'd rather take the time to look on the secondary market for a good used bike that will almost certainly be in better shape.

+1

I bought a 3 year old Demo Domane from a local shop(with full new bike warranty) https://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear...yers-guide-23/

The bike went for $8300 new, but I paid $3200
