Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mileage Rollcall so far in 2009

Just curious how the collective is doing in mileage for 2009. Just got past 2500 for the year. I'm curious how others are doing so far. Thanks for taking the poll.

A little over 500 miles for me. Not bad, considering the crap weather we get around here.

Hmm, another pissing contest. I'm not riding nearly as much this year, it should be easy for people to "beat" me...

I've ridden 490 km so far this year .......... not too bad for being off the bicycle (with the exception of 3 rides) till early April.

525 since March 15. That's when I started daily chemo/radiation therapy. I credit the riding with keeping me strong and feeling pretty good overall.

Not very much...

But yet I am getting faster and stronger...

Hmmm...

Quality over quantity...

Except of course if your goal is quantity...

not many

I really don't ride that much, maybe about 15 hours/week. All of the pros I know certainly ride much more than me. It's not uncommon for them to ride for a few hours after dragging us around for hours on our weekend group rides, and I know that one of the "epic" local loops that I do from time to time are fairly regular training routes for them.

About 1600 mi so far, a lot of short hard miles versus the long tempo miles I was doing last year.
