Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Funny you should ask. I never really go for PR's on short climbs like Newport Coast (1.5 miles 450 feet of gain). Being an Ultra Cyclist we don't ever ride in the "red zone". But I just attempted it and I got a 7:21 here is the blog post.

I really don't know how that fairs with other riders. I rode it alone. I probably could've gone harder if I was chasing someone's wheel.

Awesome, thanks for the link. 7:21 is definitely booking! I'd like to get a PM fairly soon so I can add some structure to my riding. I'd like to stop by the store and shoot the s*it with you soon.

Come and see me! I am there tomorrow but off Friday and then there all weekend. A power meter will make a significant difference in your training. You will see improvements much faster with a structured training plan AND a power meter.

I've been a little under the weather but I will definitely make it a point to stop by the shop soon. Thanks again!

Nice bike - I love Di2 as well! I have about 1000km of silly shifting when i dont even need to and general messing around on mine now and the battery indicator is still showing full green! Love it. Only complaint is I think the Dura Ace chain is a little noisy compared to others. Brakes are best Ive ever used

That's been my experience, too. My theory is that it's because the brake levers only serve one purpose now - stopping.

7:21 is hitting it, and knowing you it was probably at the end of some 5 hour death march.

InsideOut is a revolutionary internally optimized molding process that completely eliminates excess material, and therefore weight, inside the frame tubes and junctions. Placing polyurethane inserts inside the frame during the molding process—especially at the bottom bracket and head tube area—and then applying a precise amount of pressure and heat results in perfectly formed tubes, inside and out.

By using a ControlTaper head tube with 1-1/8” upper bearings and 1-1/2” lower bearings, Felt is able to significantly improve front-end stiffness and steering precision without adding weight to the frameset.

Modular Monocoque Construction is an advanced carbon fiber manufacturing technique that allows Felt to mold individual sections of the frameset and then join them together. The main advantage of MMC is that it allows each section to be optimized to meet the specific engineering demands of that particular section of the frame.

UHC Performance is a T700-based blend of raw carbon fiber, which has a tensile strength that’s 7.9 times greater than 3/2/5 titanium and a stiffness rating that’s 3.34 times greater than 6061 aluminum. UHC Performance brings the unmatched performance of a Felt carbon fiber bike to more affordable pricing levels than ever before.

Felt’s DuPont paint is the highest quality paint offered on Felt products. Reserved for our top-of-the-line bicycles, DuPont paint offers unparalleled clarity and durability in a multitude of colors.
