Everest Challenge in one day....

Yer nuts. It's a brutal ride, and the cold and darkness won't make the descents more fun. What kind of gearing to you intend to ride?
One thing that I find possibly even more impressive than doing crazy things like this or the 508 on a fixie is that you seem to be able to consistently do things that exceed the design specifications for the human body by a huge margin yet you don't report chronic injuries.

I'm officially in awe - having done EC myself last year I have no idea how one can do that ride in ONE day! Good luck, i'm certainly looking forward to getting the details and seeing photos.

I have a Garmin 310XT it has 20 hours of memory/battery life. I hope to complete it before that runs out. Otherwise I have my SRM which has 59 hours of memory but I don't want to take that long

I'm so excited to read the ride report! Bring your cold weather gear, it's going to be cold in the dark!

What you're saying is that I consistently do crazy some might say stupid things to my body and I haven't come up lame yet I do most of these things with less than 300 miles a week and usually less than 200 miles. I work 7 days straight every other week and then I work 5 days straight. I am lucky I guess. I don't have any chronic injuries to speak of. I don't know what I would do if I ever had an injury that would keep me off my bike.

Had a little HD trouble so I don't have my SRM files...need to recover them off my HD ...if I want to pay the money to get that done. Anyway, I will download the TCX files and put them into Training Peaks and post after dinner

Gearing will be 53/39 11/28.

Have you decided when you'd like to do this? I don't know what it's like there, but the snow in the PNW has been deep this year so I was wondering when the roads will be passable along the EC route. Seems like it would be desirable to do this as close as possible to the longest day of the year so you could use the light. Otherwise, the spectacular scenery will look like the photo below when you are riding...

If you average 150 watts AP at maybe 10mph for the whole thing it will be around 11000 KJ, which means maybe 13000 calories. Sound about right?

Here's something even more mind blowing - two days before I do this I will be 5k feet lower than you will be skiing enjoying the moderate temperatures at my home in Newport Beach.

Your 2010 times add up to 15 hours 34 minutes. I would think that you would have to pace yourself a bit more doing both together, and then add in approximately 15 miles to get from Bishop to Big Pine.
So, you're looking at something like 17-18 hours. I know you can do it, but it doesn't sound like much fun.

There's also the descents off the last climb that aren't in each day's profile. I'd figure at least 30 minutes for each, probably more like 40-45.
I count about 235 miles for riding EC day 1, back down, to Big Pine, EC day 2, back down, and back up to Bishop.
Ugh. I don't think there will be much competition for this record.
