would think that for this date chrome dustcaps should be in place on the backside of the pedal hole
AFAIK this part was never offered separately so their absence would tend to hurt market value for the collector/historical person
our Tulliana experts may have better information

I lifted the text below from the Velobase page for the 1049 V3.
"Campagnolo's first cotterless version [is] from 1958. It is unique in that it has "thinner" arms, a raised area around the pedal hole and the back side of the pedal hole has a small chrome-plated cap pressed in. The 1959 through 1961 cranks had thicker arms, had the raised area at the pedal hole but had no cap on the back. All post 1962 cranks came without the raised area at the pedal hole."

I think this may be 1049 V2, from 1959, '60 and '61.

in fifty + year o' cycle work only ever had one of these chainsets come through me workshop with the raised area around the pedal hole
hence me error, extrapolating from a sample size of one

I thought it would be easy to source new chain rings, but that turned out not to be the case...took forever to find something I could ride and also afford to buy. Look around on the internet, and see if it's still that way. That looks like a pretty good half step setup for someone.

the Zeus Competition Ref. 32 chainset also employs the 151BCD for its inner chainwheel
one advantage of Zeus is that it offered chainwheels down to 43T in the 151BCD
