Ive had both in the past. That said, id go with the 560. It's the one bike I wish I never sold.

You are correct. Must be the shorter wheel base that caused twitchy handling on the '85 660 and not less fork rake.

... and the RD cable through the stay I would go for that.
I had issues with that feature ... got a frame maker to braze on a cable stop and ran the cable outside. Issues gone. My 560 is a purple '85. From memory ... 501 main tubes, True Temper stays, Tange forks and steerer. I stuck my foot in the wheel a couple of times and then learned. It's a stable, solid ride, but I don't go around with both hands off the drops — ever. The original guppo was Cyclone.

916: It's a shame that your LBS's don't have the skills to do such a basic thing as cold setting and drop alignment. Perhaps it is the sign of the times in regards to the new materials, but it is the same thing as finding a car mechanic who cannot do an ignition tuneup on a car/truck with a condensor and breaker points distributer. Legacy technology should remain in their purview. Perhaps you'll meet local enthusiasts who will be able to do it for you.

I had an 83 501 tubed 560 and I never found it to be twitchy at all? I also had an 87 Prelude that was a hotrod in both handling and acceleration. One of the only bikes that I could pop the front wheel off the ground repeatedly while accelerating from low speeds(seated, not standing!). It was a blast to ride and looked great to boot. Even Kurt liked it IIRC!? hehe. So, I would probably take the Prelude over the 560. The Tenax Schwinns are the most under rated road bikes of the 80's IMHO.,,,,BD
