Andel Classic chainring bolts hitting Kilo Team chainstay

so here's my dilemma, i just installed my Andel Classic 144BCD cranks on my Kilo Team last night and noticed the chainring bolts hitting the chainstay ever so slightly, enough to make a sound and scratches on the paint. the bottom bracket i used was the Neco 110 that came with the cranks. what i temporarily did was spaced out the bb a little (maybe 1mm), then the problem was gone. there's about 1mm space between the chainring bolts and chainstay as of the moment.

i am considering ordering a few bb spacers to fix the bb spaced out a little -- but my friend here says he has an extra Shimano UN-55 110 JIS i can try. do you think the Shimano BB would make a difference considering they are the same 110 bb?

didn't see this coming, any help would be appreciated thanks!

How exactly are you going to use spacers on a BB that threads inside the BB shell? Where would you even put them?

Scrod, the ones i saw on ebay are placed in between the bb shell and the drive side bb flange, to space out the bb towards the drive side.

the bottom brackets i have have this flange on the drive side (right side) like the photo above.

That's pretty interesting. Never heard of BB spacers.

I retract my statement and admit to having a derp moment. It's a good thing I'm not a professional bike mechanic or anything.

If the BB you have is flanged, adding a 1mm spacer or two won't hurt.

Since the NDS ring doesn't have a flange, it can be inserted further into the BB shell when spacers are used on the drive side. This isn't really ideal, as it will screw up your Q, but it might help figure out how much longer your spindle needs to be in order to get the appropriate clearance.

If it were my bike, however, I'd probably switch to a 130bcd or 110bcd crankset. Not really worth the hassle to get a longer BB spindle, considering you then have to screw with rear wheel spacing to fix your chainline.

Q-factor - as well as a chainline - being off by 1 or 2mm is hardly going to be noticeable (if at all).

True, but I'm a belt and suspenders, slide rule, anal-retentive kind of guy.

SUCCESS!

Kidding. Don't do that. Spacers sound good.

Keep in mind that due to your frame flexing slightly when you ride, the bolts may still end up hitting the chainstay.

I found that one out the hard way. Nicked my Kagero's paint on the chainstay with the crankarm.
