Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

After doing the Innsbruck KOM on Friday, I felt pretty good about my climbing legs, like the miles IRL and ITG, combined with doing climbs fairly often ITG was working. So yesterday I decided to add a little climbing to my Sunday long ride. I climbed Kings Mountain as far as the Huddart Park entrance, about 1.4 miles at an average of 6.9%. I was on the Litespeed, so the lowest I had was 39x32, but it was, if not easy, at least comfortable. Yes, I do have at least SOME climbing legs.

Descending, however, was another matter. The descent is narrow and twisty, and of course, also average 6.9%. I have not doing technical descents hardly at all the last few years, so I'm completely uncomfortable on them. It's like starting fresh - I have to THINK what to do instead of it just flowing. According to Strava, this was my fastest ASCENT of that segment among 5 times but the slowest DESCENT! I figure I'll just keep working on it. I was never a fast, confident descender, but I was never THIS bad! Well, maybe the first time, back when I was on the hard-riding Cannondale.

Lol I was all over the place on my mountain bike on Saturday but ended up setting a PR on a very fast descent. That explains why it felt so scary, I was handling the bike like crap but going faster than I ever had before

Of course, if the pass had been completed that might have iced the game.

The thing is, all those mistakes and bad decisions and turnovers and stuff are a normal part of every game. The great teams find a way to overcome their mistakes, take advantage of yours, and beat you. And Mahomes is maybe the best that ever did that.

I agree, but that was such a critical moment because of Mahomes. You just can't give him that much time.

I do like a little Monday Morning quarterbacking.

Did you watch the NFL quarterbacks show on Netflix? I was not a fan of Mahomes until I watched that show. Now I admire the guy a whole lot.

Maauto, on the other hand.....
