Lugged Steel Stem?
Had a brilliant idea just now, that "someone ought to invent a lugged steel stem", but it appears "someone" already has. Quite a few companies actually, including Rivendell, among others (the one below is not one of theirs).
Anyone here built or run a lugged steel stem?

Paragon makes removable faceplate parts. Not really lugs though. There are a couple of different lug sets for stem. The LLewellyn set and one of the Asian lug companies sells one.

a Lugged look, like shown in OP, can be the result of a lot of hand labor, hand cutting a sleeve , TIG
and fillet brazing in the transition of one tube to another , smoothing it, polishing the metal
and then sending it off to be plated ..
Can get results like shown .. of course whole imported mass produced bikes can come in for less ..
