$15 Forte bar ends from Performance Bike. Looks slightly crooked to my eyes but I can't tell a difference when I hold them. How are y'all making sure both sides are even?

Not Very, But, a reach that + a bit of elbow bending, gets you low into a headwind as if using The bottom of Drop Bars.
similar to having installed Trekking bars, which I have done .

Swapping between trekking bars and straight bars + the GP5 is not difficult.

GP-3 on my Brompton Too ..

Origin8 short bar ends, $9 from my LBS. I wrapped them in some foam weather stripping and hockey tape. I'd like to try some aero bars. Never mind the wind drag, I think they would be a nice break for the hands on longer rides.

Do all these bar ends stay put as you guys are grabbing them with quite some force at times?

I get nervous about the one small bolt holding them onto the handlebar and wonder how secure they would be, especially if I was standing to ride up a hill and had hold of them.

No issues either, absolutely tight and solid. Not one small bolt holding it per say, rather one small bolt tightening one large clamp that holds it in place.

Fair enough.

I am very good at breaking things and ripping things off that I don't mean to do, so thought I would seek some assurances.

I dont use bar ends much anymore, but I have used them extensively for about 15 years or so. Ive only broken two sets of bar ends; one was in a crash so it doesnt count. The other time was when sprinting up a climb. I was able to recover and not crash but it was scary. Since then I try to avoid anything plastic on barends and stick to aluminum and brands that have been around for a long time

Ergon grips with metal bar ends. I found the Metal too hard for my carpel tunnelly hands, so I put the old grips on the bar ends. Very comfortable. I cant remember if I got the idea from one of you guys, but thanks to whoever suggested it.
