Diamondback hybrid known as early model of its 29er, Overdrive Comp

1992/1993 Diamondback Overdrive Comp (original paint frame and fork, but components upgraded), originally a hybrid with 700x45c tires. But as the latest same model (2016) is an Overdrive Comp 29er, has created assumption that the 92/93 model is the earliest model of 29er.

My wife's DB Override from the early 90's also fits some big sneakers under it as I have had 45's on it before, now it sports a set of 38's (only because the 45's were back ordered ). I have been keeping an eye out for a men's DB Override or Overdrive in my size because of tire sizes that will fit. We have two Trek Hybrids a 720 & 730 and they barely fit 40's under them.

GT even created a new 700D size around a 587mm BSD, in 1990.

Marin had the Stinson, similar idea sort of a cross tire on a mountain bike frame, which should also fit some pretty big tires. I don't know if it would clear a modern 29er tire though, maybe a 2.0 XC tire.

1992 mens diamondback override. my wife and I purchased his and hers when we got married 1992. Amazing product. I just finished a ride. 28 years later, new tires and tubes, few seats, brake pads , but everything else is factory. Unbelievable bikes

Fisher, Trek, Miyata (3 models), Specialized, Bianchi, etc. All in the game before 92. I think Fisher was '89...even had drop bars.
Whoops, old but obviously not quite dead thread.

I've tried the 29er tire and not working, as maximum the chainstay accepts 1.70 (45c).
