My worthless bike tripled in current price?!

By now, most people know the ol' "FrankenTrek" 95 800 Sport. Bought it for 30 USD in 2014, not long ago, blue book had it at 5 USD to 25 USD in value. Just looked and Trade-in Range $40-$41; Private Party Range $78-$80.

Really?! Wow....

Anyone else notice an inflation in bike value vis a vis the blue book?

They probably just tweaked their blanket algorithm. Still essentially worthless as an actual value guide.

This is meaningless until someone actually gives you cash.

Almost any rideable bicycle yields that much.

Right, until you see the cash you don't actually know what it is worth

I was surprised when I researched and found what a decent road bike with Tiagra and 105 would cost these days (similarly spec'd to my '06 LeMond), compared to what I saw some selling for on CL. Don't know if they were is as good shape as I keep mine, but for what it would cost to replace, vs what they were selling for, was disheartening. Best way to judge what your bike might bring is to check the various selling methods, CL, EBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc.

Kinda. You have to look at "Sold" prices. Asking price is not a reliable barometer.
