I don't understand bike geometry real well, but worth noting that the bottom bracket on these is high. Mine is the same size as the auction bike and standing over it, it feels more like a 56.

Your suspicions of a tall BB height (or little BB drop) are correct. My 25" version of this had a BB drop of about 56mm or so--positively track bike-like. Normally it would be in the 66-73mm range for this vintage (68-70mm for modern stuff), but yeah, it was high. Since it rode great and played along when accelerating/climbing out of the saddle, I can't say that the BB height was a detriment to the bike other than placing me a bit higher on it than I'd like. Would have kept the thing if it had short reach brake capability and shorter stays. But if you don't care about that, then the thing is dynamite.

FS: 1991 Klein Quantum. Chehalis, WA; pre-Trek. 61cm frame (c-c). 74/74 angles. Gloss black. Mostly Campagnolo parts. 8 speed.
-Campy Athena headset. 1" threaded, C-Record era.
-Campy Chorus shifters, 8 speed, triple compatible, some road rash but not of my doing. More on this below.
-Campy Chorus 9 speed derailleur/Centaur front.
-Cinelli 1A stem 95mm
-Campy Record cranks. (1995, 170mm length)
-Campy Chorus brakes.
-Dura ace 7750 pedals. (No shame).
-Campy seat post (either record track or record OR, I don't recall)
-Campy Chorus rear hub, C-Record era; Campy Record front hub, 70's. Mavic GP4, Tufo s33 pro 24mm tubular tires.
Quick story:
It's my first road bike, believe it or not. I'm the second owner, I bought the frameset over eBay as a weird second chance offer. Had some Campagnolo stuff on it, so I went with the theme. I tried to build it catalog correct, but thriftyness got the better of me. I actually like it more like this, it's a rider, not a basement queen. Life's a journey, not a destination...
Though in a way it's also fair to say that it isn't finished.
Quirks and issues:
Klein bottom bracket is, well... not exactly proprietary, but uncommon. 76mm shell, press fit bearings. 6003 bearings are plentiful, but spindles are not. They do not exist on eBay, but Phil Wood makes them at $100 a pop, which is what the bike has now - a 108mm phil spindle. Now, I picked exactly what the Klein Technical Manual suggested for my crank, and the crank sits a bit more outboard than specification (45mm vs. 43.5mm). With C-Record Chorus cranks (sold long ago), it's absurdly inboard. I have a theory that post 1995 Chorus triple is the best choice because it shares the same spindle length specification. I haven't tried Racing T or Centaur triple. If bike doesn't sell, I'll try to source one and test my theory.
Frame rear spacing is actually 126.5mm. You could rock a freewheel hub (6/7 speed) if you want to. Downside is that it is tough to spread the stays to put a 130mm 8 speed wheel in. And yes, the catalog specifies this as an 8 speed ride.
Rear derailleur: seems to shift fine until 7th gear. I think it's because the der. is a 9 speed with 9 speed chain on a 8 speed system. I intend to source an 8 speed derailleur to test if bike doesn't sell.
The stem body from top bolt hole was bored out to accept older Cinelli 1A hardware. I've had absolutely no problems, but I do intend to replace soon if this doesn't sell.
To reiterate, I'm going to regret selling this. I learned so much, and I went on so many adventures with it. Even though it's boring black, it looks business, and it has the nicest welds I have ever seen on a bike. It's truly elegant, even when the owner doesn't do it proper justice.

Good to know. Magnesium sounds a bit scary. I read that they used some chemical process on sea water to get the magnesium?

On the 28th of April 1879 George Waller competed among nine riders in the World Cycling Championships in London. Waller was a young rider from Newcastle that had only won prizes in minor races in the past. William Cann from Sheffield was the favourite and Charles Terront from France was the closest rival based on previous races. Everything changed when the newcomer Waller turned up on his Hillman Herbert and Cooper DHF race bike to claim the £105 cash and the amazing World Champion belt (he is seen wearing it in the photos).

Narrow light weight fork crowns as the 1879 DHF originally had
Open tube head this originally was designed to show off the hollow tube patent.
Tapered backbone tube.
Hand turned cedar wood Handles
Slotted adjustable cranks
Light weight rear fork
Lightweight racing saddle hand formed and trimmed as per the original and mounted with a hand carved cedar wood wedge to the original pattern leaf spring.
Even the racing pedals have been remade just like on the original machine.
Patina finish created to give the feel of finding and riding the real machine which originally was fully nickel plated.
This machine really does look and ride like the World Champion machine. The photographed machine was created with a 58" driving wheel for a customer to compete in the Knutsford Great Race, if you want a chance to keep up orders are now been taken :-)
