"1986 Specialized Allez SE (reputedly) handbuilt by Jim Merz", 60cm, $350

Not 3Rensho, but Jim Merz is a storied builder in his own right. And cheap given the fact that he built it.
I think someone's blowing a lot of smoke in that ad. I never heard that Jim Merz built any of the Specialized bikes. His name is on the sticker because he designed it.

I'm not familiar with the Raleigh hierarchy, but I really dig those Campy equipped 70's Raleighs.

The Pro was their top of the line, with the international just below. They were very similar -both 531 frames with Campy record (but I think the international came with center pulls??). The Pro was a pure race machine and the International was a sport touring model, if I recall correctly.

EDIT: Plenty of info here https://www.sheldonbrown.com/retroraleighs/index.html

Exactamundo!

Still undoubtedly the better for him having a hand in it.

I think he did build a couple of team bikes for specific riders.

I think you're right; that's why I put the "(reputedly)" in as an editorial comment. Sorry; I should have been more clear about that. Probably still a nice bike and a reasonably good deal, but more ... ordinary.

I love the colors, especially that seat, and/or everything about that bike! Except the location. Plus, I need negative more bikes, I'm only buying parts to complete projects.

mine too I blew my bike budget buying a Serotta Atlanta just yesterday, and a Lemond Buenos Aires a few days ago. Don’t get me wrong, I love the other bikes! But, a mint Ti Serotta with those upgrades under $1000?!? Come on!

Just a pulse-check on the market since I got two of these now; how much would be a fair price? $1000? I had a chance to buy Sheldon's Pro that was repainted by Brian Bayless, for $1k. Dragged my feet and missed it, and have kicked my own arse over it ever since.

Cheap Holdsworth-made Claud Butler

Somebody go get this.

Iowa Holdsworth

Closeup shows this is a Claud Butler.

English Road Bike - $175 (Ames)

image 1 of 4

Handbilt road bike by the Holdsworthy company (1985). It has a Brooks leather saddle. It is 10 speed gearing with 50 and 35 tooth sprockets on the hub and (5) 32 to 16 tooth sprockets on the rear. The lowest gear ratio is 1:1.1 with the highest at 3:1. The low gear ratio makes it a great hill climber. Really good on RAGBRAI. Construction is butted Reynolds 531 tubing. The frame fits a 5' 11" to 6' 2" person. Equipment features SunTour derailleur, Weinmann caliper brakes, and 27" x 1 1/4" tires with presta valves.

Seat post - 24" Top Tube - 22" Stand over - 34"

Dang, size is one size too big. Distance is one time zone too far. Seller's circa is one decade off.

Price is RIGHT. (Saddle cover is... not.)

Jos van Veldhoven (eBay handle v*v*velo) has a pair of the early style Campagnolo Doppler shifters up for sale:

Early Retrofriction Shifters

I'm sure they will go for a pretty penny, but at the moment (nearly five days left) they are only at £30.

If in good mech shape this is an Awesome buy!
What a smooth ride... And if you're not a lover of Ultegra, here you go, build your own! If it was for sale in the Beacon Hill that I'm familliar with, I would buy it. (Even though I have one.)
Cheers, Eric
