Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

While this is the SRAM Apex model, and carbon, it certainly seems very capable:

I have no clue why anyone would want to torture themselves riding on dirt with 30mm tires but to each their own I guess.

Bumping an old thread, I'm about to lob the holy hand grenade on an alloy 2019 Synapse disc SE, but came across these reviews at Evans Cycles that are all terribly negative - https://www.evanscycles.com/en-us/ca...-bike-EV308140. Does anyone have one of these bikes who could comment on the issues these guys brought up - wheels, "delicate" gearing (whatever that is), cable rattle, noisy bottom bracket and crank arm clearance? I've got an old CAAD 8 with a somewhat vocal bottom bracket but it's a minor annoyance and not the issue these guys seem to think it is.

Most other reviews of this bike are pretty positive, so it's odd to see the bike get three one-star ratings. Being English, maybe these guys are just cranky because their women are about to get thumped by the US team in the World Cup. (I kid, I kid!!!)

Thanks/cheers.

I had an issue with my 2013 Synapse bb30, but I took it apart lubed the spindle, put it backbtogether tighter than the factory, adjusted my FD and Never had another issue with it ever.

I am not a fan of WTB wheels, not after several sets on my MTB. couldn't keep em tight or true.

as for the "delicate" gearing remarks, I'd guess that it is in relation the their BB gripes, and crank arm clearance?

I love a synapse! however, I'd buy a caadx or topstone first for anything more than crushed limestone trails.

I can't imagine any scenario that I would want an alloy Synapse over a CAADX. Not saying there isn't a reason, I just can't find a compelling one.
