Trek announcing "something that will change cycling forever"

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek might change cycling forever but my cycling will change exactly as much as I decide it will.

Trek will make their announcement, there will be 12 page long threads arguing about it and I'll wake up, put on my jersey, get on my bike and ride exactly as I did the day before the announcement.

With the annual bike show introductions losing their steam . . . maybe they are all just trying to one-up their 2020 equipment introductions. Get it in early. Hype it to the gills. Hope it attracts all the cycling press.

And none of it will be available to the public for another 12 to 15 months.

I prefer the disk brake version, though the rear caliper and disk really should be on the other side. Can you imagine the horrible balance issues having all that weight on the same side of the bike?

Or, or, or...no brakes at all for better safety.

The discs are just there for back-up - the primary brakes are of the Flintstone variety.

Oh, absolutely. I was going to mention that for best aerodynamics, the brakes could be eliminated all together in favor of the feets. But I was afraid my post would be mentioned in the Advocacy and Safety forum and I didn't want to be responsible for the resulting train wreck.

*shrug* - dealer told me helmet has been going around on their internal but who knows - could be something else. Helmet is supposedly super cool though so....

Considering there might be some sort of possibility that a recent concussion played a role in Kelly Catlin's suicide this last weekend - I am all for anything that keeps us safer.

A significantly improved helmet would be good news, if it is safer and maybe more aerodynamic, that's the one suggestion in this thread that sounds the most interesting so far. Hope that's it.
