After some steering stem swappage the '84 620 lives! Sweet ride. It takes the carving nature of the '84 610 and draws it out even further. VERY nice to ride after dark, it just wants to track strait: I LIKE it!

Sweet ride! I've cleaned up mine a bit, for now, swapped a different set of wheels over, new chain, new cassette and brake pads. Going to take it for a short ride later today, I look forward to seeing it outdoors. I'm terribly undecided on a few things. Such as bar tape color, and if I want to keep the cables white or go black. Been crappy weather here when I could ride, so it has some time on my trainer instead.

I had a thought the other day to put the fork from my Velo Orange Polyvalent on to my 710 frame.
Luckily, the paint matches pretty well.
I also took the chance to put the fenders from the VO on to the Trek, as well as my Acorn Tall Rando Bag.
This fork has cantilever brakes and 63mm offset.
I haven't had a chance to go on a long ride on it yet, but around my neighborhood it feels really wonderful!
I also swapped in the Nitto B132 Randonneur bar, and I'm quite happy with how things fit now. I really love the shape of these handlebars.

It matches amazingly well! At 10' I'll bet the casual observer can't tell the difference at all! Is that front rack a Granary rack?

Very nice. Good idea with the fork. Are those wheels 650b?

And yes, that is the Granary Nitto rack. Such a nice product, it's a shame that they aren't around anymore as far as I know.
Thank you! Wheels are Velocity A23 650b with Compass / Rene Herse Loup-Loup Pass 38mm tires.

Yeah, I remember when they were closing those out a ridiculous prices - I love the curv.. I just didn't have a bike with cantis that needed one (still don't). I suppose I could have jury rigged some kind of band clamps, but them's the breaks (so to speak).

Time capsule from 1986.
Road a couple of times and put on a hook where it stayed until last week.

Bought from original owner.

Original bar tape?

I've been working on a couple Treks, one that I've had for a while and one that I've had in my garage for about a year.
My trusty-and-no-longer-crusty '90 or so Trek 520:
I reused some Newbaums for now as I'm going to make some more tweaks to the cockpit. I'm on the lookout for some 46cm Salsa Cowchippers if anyone's got a lead. It'll get a front bag support soon, too. It's a land yacht on those 43mm Gravel Kings.
And a '91ish Trek 2100:
I was very hesitant to invest in an old bonded carbon frame, but some other projects recently posted here inspired me to finish it up. I'm really glad I did, I think it's my favorite ride. It's going to get some more pampering and upgrades soon, but it's a fantastic ride as it is now.

I’ve wanted an old steel trek for a while, and found this 84 610 for $20... the fork was tweaked bad, stem stuck and threads destroyed, so I found a replacement, supposedly from a Pepe Limongi made Paris sport. Lots of scrapes and surface rust, but it rides great.

Last is my current Trek ... A 1994 Trek 520 Touring bike , this is probably my favorite of the lot at least so far and I considered selling it but now I am really thinking I may hold onto it .. It had been heavily toured internationally by the original owner and needed a lot of TLC and a complete overhaul when I purchased it. I like it so much I've considered sending the frame to Yellow Jersey to repaint and decal it.
Eventually if I ever sell my early Allez I will find a Trek 620 or 720.... That will be a keeper though.[/QUOTE]
I like the accessory(?) bar attached to the stem. Where did you find that? Thanks

That's cool with the cantis in the front- when I put together my Trek 400 Elance, I specifically chose and acquired 6400 series Tricolor brakes- dual pivot in the front from one set, and single pivot in the rear from another set of brakes. Having the best stopping brakes with the most modulation in the front makes the most sense!
It's cool seeing a bike like yours converted to 650B. I'm starting to get the hankering for a 650B conversion on one of my 70s Treks...
Oh, and you're right! The B132 bars are the cat's pyjamas! I think they do make a wider version these days- even though you'd think 44s would be plenty wide- because they're measured from the ends- and the ends splay way out- you still end up with something like 39 at the hoods. I love the rise and the ramps on these- plus I think they look the best from the side- with the parallel ramp and drop portions.

In looking for a bike for the 2019 Clunker challenge I stumbled onto this find at the local co-op. A 1987 520 Cirrus for $75 sans pedals, and my size at 22.5 inches, It will stay in current state until the challenge is done and then I may have to get serious about it. My first ever 531 tubed frame which I am excited about. and except for the replacement rear wheel and FW it appears to be all stock as it was described in the 87 Trek catalog down to the Blackburn rear rack and burgundy to slate fade paint job.

A keeper 100%--those 710s ride so wonderfully! The steel grey color looks great too, and really helps the silver pieces and black tires etc pop.
