Way OT: Oops, should have paid attention!!
OMG!!
I heard a "crunch" outside this morning and looked to see a car accident up the block. We are in a very quiet residential neighborhood and I walked up to see what happened. One of my neighbors plowed his Bentley Continental Supersports into the back corner of a parked pick-up truck!! He was by himself, so I assume that he was texting or something but it took the right front wheel off of the car, tore through the fender, passenger door and the sill. Couldn't even get it on a flatbed, had to get another truck and the dolly wheels.
$200,000 car here in Canada, Oh well he'll have to drive one of his other 5 or 6 supercars while this gets fixed!

Must be nice to be able to live in a neighborhood like that.
I'm driving a $2,000 car It's got lots of dents and scrapes supplied by my (then) teenage daughter.

We are like the hillbillies of the 'hood. I drive a Honda Fit, and I can't park it in our garage because of so much crap stuffed inside!
I heard a nugget of wisdom years ago, "buy the least expensive home in the most expensive neighborhood" and it was true! It has been a good investment, but it has none of the character/charm of our old neighborhood, but there is $$millions of dollars in sporty cars.

Fortunately it was just a pickup the idiot hit and not something that mattered.

There are truly accidents where someone misjudges clearance and such. The proliferation of the cell/smartphone hasn't replaced all the other stupid sh*t people do.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. You have to stay in the bushes by day, and lie still a lot so no one knows you're there......

Don't worry, These "Bentley Boys" should have enough coin to fix these cars.......
Anyway, the car is most likely listed with the IRS as a company car so any out of pocket costs can be declared as business operating expenses/loss that can be deducted from his business taxes.

The IRS is a formidable institution, but even they do not hold much sway in Canada.

No it can not be deducted from his business taxes, although he may owe less taxes because of the repair exspense.

I had been storing an expensive sports car for a guy for nearly two years. he bought it for his son and forgot where it was. He has untold fortunes but insists on picking up change he finds on my property.

I live in the barrio. Just down the street is a Ferrari/ Maserati dealer. 1/2 mile away we got Lamborghini.
Porsche, Bentley, Rolls, Aston-Martin, Lotus and yet another Ferrari dealer are a short bike ride away. We swat BMW's and Mercedes like flies. Beautifully restored cars from the 50s and 60s are daily drivers. Have a guy who uses a '32 Model A as his commuter.
Southern California is a strange place when it comes to cars. Costa Mesa, my home town, is the automotive-motorcycle Disneyland of all time.

sounds like he took a page out of the Paris Hilton Handbook.
Reminds me of the guy who drove his $2M Bugatti into a lake in Texas. No other vehicles, just off the road and into the water.

Used to live in Marin Co, in N. California, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. Was driving a 1980 Datsun hatchback-thingy (not the cool one). It was 1998. People hated it when we parked in front of their house for the day. They would peek through the curtains and give us death glares. We used to play "count the luxury cars" at stop lights to relieve boredom. Record? 23.
Now I teach at a private school, but it's so low-key I often forget how rich some of the folks are. The other day, I'm on "parking lot pick-up duty," which I've never done before. Up pulls a dad in this:
$110,000 base. One of my coworkers, who had retired from a certain software company after being there for nearly 20 years, drove a $135,000 Maserati until his kids made him sell it and buy a Prius. I bet that hurt.
