L or XL? (Fit critique)

I had a chance to borrow a Large Salsa Fargo and feel it’s a bit small. The jump to the XL is quite large, though.

Leg length feels fine and appears to be KOPS. My main concern is reach. My arms don’t have much of a bend on the L yet I feel too far forward on the bike, almost as if my nose is over the front hub. I’ve had a bit of lower back discomfort on rides over 20 miles.

The taller head tube on the XL would help bring the drops closer to saddle height where they belong on this bike.

I’m thinking an XL with a shorter stem might be the way to go but I’d be curious to hear thoughts.

Agree, too small. One of the usual fit critiques is that the bar should obscure your front hug.
