Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What part of that didn't make sense, VeloVol? If I'm the one riding the TT bike, and two cyclists with my level of fitness were riding against me......

OK. In the video they didn't even do that. The TT bike and road bikes were timed separately. If you're not racing head to head, why not have the same person on both to minimize a variable?

Sounds like this guy just took off a water bottle cage, drove a couple hours to a remote hill, and set the record. Kudos.

How are you going to draft off of yourself?

It's hard, but apparently Velo Vol can do it.

Honestly, based on the power those guys said they put down, I think I could dust them in an hour ride. I don't think they can hold 25 mph for an hour taking pulls of any length.

If the TT and the road bikes are timed separately, as in the video, why not just have the TT rider be one of the road bikers, so the comparison is as equal as possible?

So you want the guy to follow a balls-to-the-wall effort with another balls-to-the-wall effort and you think that'll be more fair?

36 hours with no rain. It's getting crispy out there. All the standing water(here) is finally gone though.

I'm seeing wildflowers that I normally only see during winter riding season. Must be the extra rain. The season will arrive any day now. Hopefully I'm caught up on the weed eating by then.

Rode my age today. I was going to save that for next month when my actual birthday happens, but I tried to do that 2 years ago, only to have it preempted by 2 weeks of "Hazardous" air, which only cleared on when it started raining, and then it rained for a month. So, in California in the Fall, you don't bet on having another opportunity.

Beautiful day for it, too! Temps around 65-70, not a cloud in the sky, AQI in the single digits. That blue thing way, way out there is the Pacific Ocean.

It was a lot easier when I did it in 2013, for some reason.....

There's no reason one has to be right after the other.

Stop changing the rules. Based upon the video WhyFi shared, my answer was short, sweet and correct. It's still correct, and this is based upon real world experience, not on the love of argumentative behaviUor. (gratuitous U)

Equal fitness of 3 riders, same rider as one of the pair, it doesn't matter. Aero trumps power, in this case.
