Addiction LXXX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Stay tuned!

I’m done trying to help some guy who’s coming up on the train from FL to do a bike trip. He’s making logistics much more complicated than they need to be by overpacking. You can’t save some people from themselves.

What's that they say about advice? The wise ones don't need it, and the fools won't heed it.

Good on you for at least trying.

It depends on how you slice/dice the data, of course, and lots of variations by state and county. In any case, it's clearly a problem that is not going away.

There are currently a half dozen people that are not in the shop due to attending a coworker's birthday party at a brewery last Saturday, where a patron tested positive for COVID.

AFAIK they are still awaiting test results.

I’m watching the Giro while sitting in my local Honda dealership waiting for a recall to be done on my van.

Amazing how many bare noses that I can see sticking out of their masks within my breathing range.

With a good measure of "Thanks for taking the time to give me detailed advice, but it doesn't work for me because of some key details I omitted from my OP. Frankly, the guy sounds a bit loopy, and he admits to not having done anything like this for 10 years, when he was 56. At least in response to an earlier post I was able to persuade him that one day he had too much planned for his abilities, part of which required riding on a road best avoided.

Earlier this morning I was in a market that includes several Amish/Mennonite businesses. Almost all the workers had bare noses, which is par for the course with them. Numerous shoppers either had bare noses or were wearing their masks as chin straps. I really want to punch people sometimes.

That explains it.

He's over 60, and everyone knows that's the cut-off for logical thought. And stuff.

Yup, and the local school board just voted to reopen schools in-person effective next week. I predict they will shut them down again sometime within a month of reopening.

Mrs datlas told them she is NOT going in if there will be students there, and they like her so much they said she can work remotely from home.

Absolutely. That's the thing, I always take away something from those that are trying to help.

Others, not so much.
