Addiction LXXX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ditto. Also a nice reminder of why I want to keep it that way.

Thanks and of course you are right. I chatted with him and no hard feelings, he is already shopping for a replacement.

I dunno if there's a standard but you don't want to have to turn around to smack your kid upside the head, so best to have the kid in the middle

The fatter person goes up front on our tandem.

Except that one time a work buddy jumped on back for a quick spin.

I know that for traditional tandems with rider and stoker being different heights, the taller rider is in front, so probably not.

I'd love to get a tandem for my wife and I, but unfortunately we ride such different sizes that it's hard to find one that would fit both of us well.

We’re going to be traveling for 7 days in a week or so and I’ve already started twitching about how I’ll do without my machine.

Generally, the stronger rider is in the front, stronger meaning more upper body which also generally means taller. Tandems require a little more effort to steer/handle in my experience.

Well is it a nice/ recent bike or older? If my bike died I'd be like \

Well at least in a normal year when I could actually buy a new one on short notice. And yes, I know I'm lucky I could say that.

It's nice and relatively recent. He said the LBS works with a crabon repair facility and are quoting $600 to repair, which seems kinda steep but he said it's a $2500 frame so prolly still worth fixing.

I was going to suggest he stop riding plastic frames and hoops, but I think it's too soon.

From the Ministry of Misinformation

As is common knowledge, there is much misinformation these days. This used to be known as lying and was employed to get out of trouble until it was upgraded to misinformation which currently is employed to get others in trouble.

At first there was a humorous side to misinformation such as the claim that putting raw onions in your socks at night would prevent the flu. Then it dawned on certain types, the types that like manipulation and getting others in trouble, that if you could actually get people to put raw onions in their socks you could get a substantial number of people to believe anything and the rest is history.

The sad part of all this is that, on the one hand, a distrust of homeopathic remedies has come about, regardless of merit, and on the other, many tried and true remedies have fallen into disuse and even ridicule. For example, as a Hispanic man, my mom and her mom before her, cooked with garlic just about every day and I can attest that no one in my family has ever been bitten by a vampire. This is an unbroken record for generations into the dim past and thus, solid evidence.

I hope these few comments will cause everyone to pause and reevaluate some of the"information" floating around today. And by the way, I'm considering changing my user name to "Deep Thinker".
