just when I figured out how/when to bike commute my boss gave me more time off

ugh, I finally figured out how to occasionally add a round trip bike commute to my week's schedule (Fridays) but my boss said I should take some Fridays off. I can certainly ride on the Fridays I have off & I guess go back to it when vacation season is over ... but I was just getting into a groove! is it weird that I'm disappointed to not work Fridays cuz I won't be bike commuting for the rest of the summer?

Yes.

Don't worry, you'll get used to it quickly. A few years ago I took Fridays off for the summer. Getting an extra day for riding, as well as fixing things around the house, cooking, cleaning, and just plain goofing off, became the norm pretty quickly. Still, I was ready to get back to work "full time" when October rolled around.

No, it's not. Riding to work improves your general outlook and attitude. I felt the same way when I started bike commuting.

If you're not riding to work everyday, then ride in on Thursday.

No. I have previously posted:

hmmm, wonder if you can ask them for 24 hrs notice. at my last job, I knew that for the months of Sept - December I might be called off-site at any time so I voluntarily stopped bike commuting those months. I did so cuz the off-site work was a welcome change & often fun

fyi - just read that the City Council in Chicago unanimously approved a bill requiring large Chicago employers to give workers at least two weeks’ advance notice of their schedules & compensate them for last-minute changes. The “fair workweek” ordinance reflects a compromise between representatives from labor & business, who have been working with the city on what kinds of employers and employees would be covered by the scheduling rules.

I have to do something like that every week. Since my wife also has a car, I usually leave my car parked at work and ride the bike in. No problems in 15 years...

I get it. I've been enjoying commuting this summer, but I work at a high school, and no way am I riding my bike through a bunch of new teen drivers and their texting mommas every day.

My answer as posted earlier;

In a similar vein, on the 1990’s sitcom, Married with Children, Al Bundy was once asked, “Why don’t you have a picture of your wife at work? To which he replied, “Kinda defeats the reason to go to work."

Right? I should have this problem!

Rumrunn, just go for a ride on friday, anywhere you want to. Heck, ride to work and back without actually working. S'all good.
