Baskets are awesome at certain tasks. So are kickstands. Most bikes with baskets need kickstands. Although not all bikes with kickstands need baskets. And with all those stickers I'd never notice the Brooks Cambium on there...

Funny how age and experience seem to guide the build and aesthetic of the bike the most... I've definitely learned a few things, though, fenders and kickstands are still big no-no's for me.

Maybe on a long enough timeline, we all end up on either Homer Hilsons or time-trial bikes. Are you a Fred or a Yehuda?!

Neither. I'd rather be a Long Ranger (in my dreams...).
Tour 14er: 34 days, 12 hours - Success! - Justin Simoni as: THE LONG RANGER

Agree that fenders (on my adventure bike) are useless and would get torn off. Same with a kickstand. But on my randonneuring bike fenders are welcome. Although they may come off so I can run some Knard 41s for some dirt camping.
Stickers though, they belong on toolboxes and Trapper Keepers.

Also agree that age and experience guide setup.

I kinda dig on stickers. They protect the frame from rubbing from my framebags, give shout-outs to companies and organizations I like (check out that Bernie Sanders sticker on my seat tube), and give the bike a little "personality." People see my bike all over town, and everyone knows it's mine, and I make friends talking about cycling and cycling culture because it stands out.

My bike is a canvas!

However, I took a light tour with just my hammock and light sleeping bag on a front rack (above the fender) and the bike was slightly unstable (steering only) and I could not go "no-handed" which I like to do (to my mom's chagrin!). I would probably have a heavier load in my saddlebag than you appear to, and my front panniers are smaller and lower than yours (and possibly a lighter load).

My ride is a Velo_Orange Campeur

Lucky daughters. They will remember that trip forever. Great that you think outside the box to (IMHO, as I do same with my kids as you with cargo bikes, and any other form of transportation that doesn't have four wheels).

above fender should be very light, here in the handle bar bag I have light clothing, camera and food when needed, maps, phone, thats it. if you load heavy high steering is not fun anymore. so all other stuff down in the panniers. with this setup I could do summer touring for several month, why carry more if you need to wash stuff anyway every 1-2days... having no weight in the back make the bike feel like a normal road bike, great handling climbing, specially climbing out of the saddle. no pudding frame under your ass .... like with back load. I toured many years with back load, BIG panniers, carrying stuff nobody needs on my next tour I will skip the saddle bag again, only spare tire tied to the saddle, tools will go to the front rack again. this Ortliebs can carry 35L enough.

You're killin' me with those pictures. I'm sitting at my desk staring over at the bike I rode to work today, but dreaming of spending a few months wandering around the country (US) on the VO!

Yes indeed. I've also introduced them (with a very short hike) to backpacking to camp. Good fun!

Or training for airline baggage handlers, a special session on adequate handling of bicycles. The infamous DGAF method.

Finally got to take the Troll out camping. Not really a touring load as this was more of a weekend camping trip that I happened to be biking to. Otherwise I might have done without the coolers in the grocery bag pannier, and I almost definitely would have left the rocking chair (orange package on top of the rear rack) behind. Strapped my tent and bedding to the handlebars. Clothing and odds and ends in the Ortleib. It all worked well. I'm confident I could carry a touring load without needing to add a front rack (which I've been trying to avoid on this bike). Since that grocery bag pannier would be unnecessary on an actual tour, I could probably go with two Front Rollers on the back instead of my Back Rollers.

I have a few bikes, but never had a classic touring bike. That ended back in the spring when I purchased this Jamis Aurora off of Craigslist. I wasn't really looking to add another bike to the stable, but you know how that goes. It is a 2006 or 2007 model and it was very well taken care of by the previous owner. He used it for a few tours and was downsizing his bike stable. I haven't taken it on a tour yet, but it has become my go-to bike for commuting, charity and leisurely group rides. I've made some modifications (tires, stem, tape, frame lock, Acorn seat bag, new headset and mini-v brakes not pictured) but for the most part it is how I purchased it. The Nitto racks are very nice! Every time I look at it in the garage I want to go for a ride so I can't ask anything more from it. Here's a couple of pictures from my commute...

Very nice Troll! I didn't realize they made a World Troller.
