Buying replacement cables, help please.
Can someone please link me a source for some derailleur and brake cables. It seems that the plastic housing and the wire cables are sold separately mostly. I can find some kits containing both but does anyone make a roll containing both the plastic sheath and the actual wire? I need to redo about 4 bikes.
Is this both cable and housing or just housing?

The links you posted are just for coils of outer housing, they do not include the inner wires. You have to buy the inner shift and brake cables separately but they are available in boxes of 10 or so which will save some money over individual packages.

Velo Orange sells brake cable and shifter cable complete kits here: https://velo-orange.com/collections/cables-housing
I use them and they have drawn stainless wires with lined housings. Very effective and complete with ferrules and cable end crimpable caps.

Shimano and Jagwire among others sell cable and housing kits. I use lined housing and die-drawn inner cables; the coated inner cables are a pain to clamp securely, tend to shed the coating, and offer little frictional advantage over die-drawn cables.

I would go Jagwire Pro or Elite kits: https://jagwire.com/products/diy-cable-kits. I now use them on most bikes (or use the leftovers for bikes) and it is great. Has all the bits you might need and are quite high quality if you go Pro or Elite but even the Sport is decent enough. However with the cheap stuff like cables/housing and brake pads it does pay to get the top end stuff. It gives you better bang for your buck. Plus with the Elite Link housing you can pretty much reuse the links ad infinitum and just replace the liner which is super cheap so it is a nice lightweight and cool looking solution with cables that are super smooth. Plus if you get multiple kits you can mix and match colors for a real fun time.

Go to a good bike shop with the old housing, they will custom cut new housing for you, then buy the cables. Probably about the same price as on the interwebs. B sure to grease the cables.

If you're using friction shifting, I've had good luck with the simple Schwinn kits through Amazon, usually around $9. You get housing and cables for brakes and shifters, plus ferrules and crimp ends. Sometimes the cables are kinked in one spot. You get what you pay for, but again, it's been fine for me with friction setups.
