Sorry, is was NOT a signature line in the quote I was referencing, i.e., Post. #54.by Ross520 above. It was in the comment itself..

I suspect it is you who need to re-read. While my post was not all about you or even YOUR signature line, I did agree with your opening post on the litter.

Oh hey, you came back? Have you seen the Bagel Street video? It's really pretty great, you gotta check out that Bagel Street video.

(Also, I'm pretty sure the second guy you yelled at wasn't saying what you thought they were saying.)

You've got your litterers, and you've got your non litterers.

The thing the litters have in common is, they litter.

The thing the non litterers have in common is, they don't litter.

The bicycle didn't have any choice in the matter.

It's not everybody, but about 10% find any reason to be offended. I would like to say it's the younger snowflakes, but it turns out they are mostly the 50+ crowd.
However, your comments were a little caustic. Remember, we cannot perceive the tone you are using.
I started a sarcastic thread with purely comic intentions and tried to make it obvious, some members still had a hissy fit

That’s really a thing? I haven’t seen those laying around, but I’d be just as irritated as you are. Littering is on the same level as being rude to wait staff, and not returning shopping carets...

Frankly, I might toss a banana peel..but only into high weeds where no one would see it. I can't believe cyclists would toss gel wrappers or particularly empty CO2 cartridges. After all they don't weigh any more than they did when you were carry them at the beginning of the ride. I guess I always sort of assumed that anyone who values a ride outdoors would also place value....on the OUTDOORS!! Slobs are what they are and I guess all we can do is police ourselves and maybe place some signs? Very sad.

It really was just one guy, and I'm pretty sure he read "snob" where you wrote "slob".. Most of us were making fun of someone for taking offense at your original post which really isn't objectionable in the least.

"Don't litter" seems like just about the least offensive suggestions anyone has ever made on BF, and I'd certainly be as mad as you if someone in my family got hurt as you described.

The Humboldt area of Cal. is actually a beautiful part of the state. If one wants to feel really humble (or would that be "Humboldt"), go ride up in the Redwood forests and you will feel really insignificant.

Cheers.....

Co2 cartridges

The CO2 canisters are not just from cyclist, they are the latest trend in getting high with some sort of drug paraphernalia...see a lot down little country roads lay-bys etc

It's not new, and "whip its" or Nitrous Oxide cartridges are usually blue. Propane cylinders (green gas) are most often (you guessed it) green.

I most commonly see 16g silver carts, which are CO2. The bulk of those are labeled as Lezyne (white label,) Genuine Innovations (green n' black) or Planet Bike (red/white on a gold-ish cartridge.)

Add to that the fact that the carts are generally discarded near trails, and often accompanied by other cycling-related refuse, and we can't jump to blame this on huffers.

It's a whole different part of town to find whip-its, and there won't be just one. You could fill a 5 gallon bucket.
